6400 plus? I don't think so. I shift at 6100rpm with my VT Stage 2 n/a cams. Going anywhere past is useless with mine.
ohh.. my bad. just what ive heard..
(lehigh tunnel)I am looking for 320 and 320 HP & TQ with the head and cam swap........... with a good valve job and ported heads....its worth about 20-25 hp...........I will be doing VT stage II's with Patriot Stage II heads.............I know of 2 pushing 320+ and have less bolt ons than I do......
"ED"
do yourself a favor & get different heads
Is it better to port/polish the stock heads??? or buy new ones...?
If so, what brand....
My goal for the summer is 320 WHP....
thanx

"New" heads are simply factory Ford castings that are ported/polished by an aftermarket company.

Well...not to beat the subject to death...but do you guys think its possible for me to port/polish my own heads with my friends dad (ford guy currently building a stroker motor for an old fuel injected 5Liter...)do all of the mods I suggested in the beginning...plus the existing bolt ons I already have...and hit 320ish???

Hmm...what about the whole "polishing" part...?
What exactly does that mean anywayz?![]()
Most of the popular shops like VT and MPH get their heads from Fox Lake.
Ron is a great guy over at Fox Lake and is very knowledgeable. Fox Lake does not polish their intake runners or exhaust ports. And to the best of my knowledge, most shops that re-sell Fox lake ported heads do not touch them either. Some shops that hand port their own heads without using a CNC machine will fan roll the intake runner and exhaust port as the final touch, but even fan rolling is not a polished finish.
If you see 4.6 2 valve heads that are advertised as polished, you probably want to stay away from that shop. Nobody in the know actually polishes a fuel injected head. You want the intake runner to retain the very small CNC cuts. It keeps the fuel in suspension.
Please don't attempt to port your own cylinder heads. Porting cylinder heads should ONLY be done by the pros who know what they are doing. It's a vey complex process and the port geometry involves some in depth calculations. You can quickly ruin a head with a dremel.
if fox lake does MPH's heads that's new to me
Doesn't VT port their own heads too?
