I just installed my VT NA Stage 1 cams and it's running fine. I called VT Engines and they said no break-in period is necessary.

I am currently using DiabloSport Perfomance Tune and the idle is set at 800rpm instead of 750rpm. The car idles fine. I am still waiting for a custom mail order tune from RWTD.

My question is, is it safe to go to the race track now? Since VT says there's no break in period and it's good to go, I'm just wondering.

Mine was real rich after my Comp 262's...and I ran about 15 times at the track... :D

Just note though that you may only gain a few tenths. I went form consistant 14.7's to 14.5's after cams. A little dissapointed but I attributed it to running in extreme heat after the cam swap. Now after my tune in nearly ideal weather I hit what you see below...with only 5 runs. I think I have some left.

Just came back from the track guys:p

Don't worry, I did a A/F ratio datalog before going to the track. From 2000rpm to 6000rpm, at 100% TPS, the AFR was 13:1:nice:

yeah man, you were on the good side of f-ed up A/F ratios. Hotmustang installed his cams and was up past 15:1 at certain parts of the rev-range.
I want to say that he had a mail order tune before the cams too though and other mods help make that a/f ratio.

when i added cams i was running pretty rich from what i could tell. actually my car wouldn't idle at all cuz of the fuel.

i still only got on it maybe 3 times to check to see if it was missing out. a/f scares me :)

what?

I thought I remember him saying he did the cam install, loaded the mail order tune from MD to hold him over, then drop to MPH to have it dyno tuned... then he found out that his A/F was dangerously lean.

Could be.. I was thinking he was lean before he did the cams too, not for sure though cuz that was so long ago lol. I'm sure he'll eventually chime in here

yeah I can't really remember all that well either... well anyway, we can both agree that it is a good idea to tune the car before beating the hell out of it. The bastid is probably out building his turbo setup... "ooooh yeah n/a 4 lyfe dawg!"
