Wanna help pick rims for my Merkur?

I've got 2 sets of stock rims for my Merkur and one set is going to be my primary set and is going to get media blasted and powdercoated...i'm just not sure which set i like better yet. Here are the options:

1) these are commonly called "spatulas" because the spokes are sort of like a spatula (duh)

2) these are very similar to BBS rims and are actually about 5lbs lighter than the spatulas...i love the style but i don't have center caps yet, and they sort of "bubble out" which i really don't care for, but still i like how they look.

Decisions decisions.

Yeah, that's my son stickin his silly head up in the back seat

haha i saw your kid and laughed. man, i want to say i like the "BBS" style ones, but i kinda like the way the spatula ones look too. i know what you're talking about saying the "bbs" ones bubble out and i hate that so thats why my decision is kinda split. if i HAD to choose one, i'd go with the spatulas, just cause i hate wheels that bubble out.

Yeah and the spatulas are pretty much flat except for every other spoke dips down. Also for some reason the spats look bigger, but the rims and tires are the exact same size.

The biggest downfall of these cars is the tiny wheel well they have...16s are really pushing it and you've gotta run super low profile tires which are hard to find. There are guys running 17s and even one that i know of running 18s, but they're all racecars with no inner fenders and lots of fender stretching and rolling. I'm gonna stick with 15s even if i buy aftermarket rims.

Is it not the same bolt pattern as a fox?

Should be. Its a Ford product. And everyone has the same bolt pattern except for Chevy.

Could be 4" or 4.25" or 4.50". Ford has tried them all.Plus it is a import. I was thinkin put your ponys on it or your welds

Yes, same bolt pattern but the problem is it's a FWD offset...which is a real oddball and plus it's hub centric. I could put the Ponys on it but they'd have to be super low profile tires. You can run Focus rims but you've gotta have special spacers, and there's also a lot of other stock rims like the Contour and even the Tempo that fit, but the offsets are here and there.

I actually thought about the black spoke thing but there's no real clear place to mask off and paint the inner spokes so the black would just stop and might look funny. I was thinking about just power coating them gloss black.

WTF?

I dig the BBS-style rims, myself. Powdercoat 'em, but leave the lip bare and sand/polish 'em.

I don't have the bi-wing and my lower is painted but that's essentially what it'll look like.

^That's my poor attempt at gloss black spatula rims.

Not bad. Is that the same wing as on the SVO?

Ah. I thought you were deliberately putting some kind of a design onto the wheels, like the shape of a gun or the state of Florida...

This is actually the car that gave birth to the SVO. The engine is the same and the inspiration of the wing came from it as well. That's about it though, as the Merkurs have an IRS rear end and aren't anything close to the Fox platform.

I like the hamburger flippers, but I don't like them in black. I think they look good the way they are now.
