Want a supercharger, but

ok, i have a 2000gt w/3:73s, PRO 50 short throw, SLP X-pipe w/ cats, MAC catback, K&N filter & eventually want a supercharger, but that "money" thing isn't helping me at the moment, i'm gonna get it tuned real soon though, anyways, what size plenum and throttle bottle should i get in the mean time that will work with the blower( right now im think procharger). & are headers really worth the hassle and price?

Go with a 75mm TB and either an accufab or C&L plenum. I believe LT's give a really good gain with a supercharger, so they might be worth it. I'll be doing them soon too because im getting a blower down the line.

If money is the issue, just save your money on any mods to get the supercharger sooner. Get the complimenting mods later.

I fully agree, especially where you're going to be running FI on the stock shortblock. You want to supercharge, then do some minor mods to get to the 400rwhp mark (w/ safe tune of course), rather than doing some extensive mods, slapping on the blower and being past the limits of the block. Just my opinion though

yea accufab 75mm is what you want ive got it and love it and im not even blown either. Mine makes a pretty sweet whistle sound when i give it a certain amount of gas so in the meantime you can act like you have a blower on it.

I like what I have done to my car but some day soon I will be getting supercharger. Now I am worried I will be way more then 400rwhp if I supercharg it
Not if you don't get greedy with the boost. Run it at conservative levels (6-8psi or whatever) and drive around worry free while still making as much power as the guys running around with big boost on stock set ups with the shakey factory short block. Then once you've saved up enough for a bottom end build up, have it done and then turn up the wick to blow them all away. :nice:

Fair enough, just keep in mind you'll have to send it out and have it programmed a second time after the blower install. If a blower is in your future, I'd go with a tuner over the chip.

Sorry to hi-jack the thread, but "Gearbanger", are you the guy that has the allen supercharger. I have been looking at that setup and was wondering how you liked it and does the kit come with everything you need. I am thinking about getting the 6 psi kit. Also, did they send you a tune or did you have to have it tuned by a local shop. How is there customer service?

Thanks for the info.

Yes, I'm that guy. There are also one or two others on the board that have them, but they don't frequent very often. Rather than go into great detail for a second time, I'll just send you to a link from a couple of weeks ago in which I commented when someone asked that same question.

As for the tune....yes, you can either get the kit in 6psi trim with either an FMU to control fuel delivery, or ECU tune via aftermarket chip. Personally, I'd go with the chip if I were you. The FMU is plenty safe, but you won’t get the best overall power, fuel economy and drivability with it.

I personally bought the kit with the FMU, but have since gone waaaaay past the original configuration and upgraded pretty much everything as far as fuel, ignition and cooling goes. I'm choosing to go with an SCT XCal 2 over the chip, mainly for convenience factor alone, since I live in a city that's 4hrs away from the nearest dyno and tuning software.

If you've got any other questions about the kit, feel free to send me a PM. :)

I could be out of line here but if I were you and were going to buy a supercharger it would not be a Procharger. I know of a few people personally and a lot on many forums that have had belt jumping problems and oil leaks with Prochargers. I would go with a Novi 2000 personally. Just my opinion though, some people have had good luck with them. As for Throttle body i would go Accufab 75mm as well.
