Seam sealer!

One of my gloves tore and I got a bunch on my finger. Definitely not coming off for days, that's for sure.

Well,...I had to dig to find your thread. I haven't looked at it for awhile, everything looks really, really good.
I find that seam sealer stuff is really useful for impressing the ladies w/ your personal hygiene standards. Especially when it's under your fingernails, and or in the cuticle area. Nothing gets them hotter than the thought of you putting your dirty looking hand somewhere on their body.
I also take comfort in the knowledge that as anal as it appears you are to be, that you having gook on a hand or finger that will be there for days must've brought you to the brink of hacking off the offending digit.

Good work as usual,...I'm so jealous.

LOL. Thanks Mike. You're right about the seam sealer on the hands though. Women tend to love the rough yet tacky texture that the seam sealer brings. It makes for a great shoulder massage. They especially love how the slightly tacky texture tends to pick up every bit of dirt from every surface you touch. That really gets them going.

Shot the top coat this weekend. Nothing but some simple Eastwood Chassis Black paint. I also hit the subframe connectors with some hammered texture paint. That will be the same finish on the roll bar inside the car.

I'll be spraying the bedliner by the weekend, weather permitting.

I assume you mean the nicest torque boxes and not the best pic of them? Seeing as how it only includes the upper boxes... but it does look DAMN NICE!

Thanks guys. Everything did clean up pretty nice under there. After spending hours and hours cleaning up the underside and becoming very well aquainted with every weld and seam under there, I truly realized how weak the upper torque boxes really are. One of my spot welds was actually cracked. I didn't waste my time reinforcing them because of the IRS, but with a solid axle, reinforcing the uppers is definitely just as important as reinforcing the lowers.

Thanks bud. The seam sealer is made by Lord. This line of sealer is called Fusor 800EZ. I got it from my painter. It's a professional grade sealer. Not as 'professional' as those sealers that use the dual cartridge caulk guns to appy it, but it's still good stuff.

I'm applying the Raptor Liner as we speak. Just waiting for the first coat to flash, then I can hit it one more time...

Well, here she is. Underside is officially complete.

I am honestly VERY happy with the results. The pictures don't even do it justice.

The spec sheet said to shoot it between 40-70psi. I knew that more pressure would shoot a finer mist, so I shot it at 60psi. I also kept the gun at least 12" away from the surface. On the second coat, I kept it probably 20" away. This created a final look that almost resembles the look of 80 grit sandpaper. The wheel wells have 3 decently heavy coats on them, but keeping the gun far away kept that sandpaper look even with the heavy coats. I didn't want that 'chunky' bedliner look, and I'm glad I was able to avoid it coming out heavy.

It also hides just about all the body imperfections on the bottom as well. I really couldn't be happier. If anyone is thinking about using Raptor Liner, do it. It's so easy to apply, and for a total cost of $120 including the gun, you can't beat the price. I still have one bottle left over out of the 4 it came with.

I should be able to get the car back on all four whee...err...jackstands this weekend.

Thanks bird. And yea, $120 for 4 bottles, hardner, and the gun. The cheapest price I found online was on Ebay from TCP global.

After the zombies take over and kill everyone on earth, the planet should be discovered by the aliens. It may take a millenia or two and all evidence that man existed will be effectively wiped from the earth. A couple thousand years after the earth is recolonized, is about when I expect they will unearth the only clue that this planet was inhabited at some point waaaaaaaaaaaay in the past. It will be the greatest archeological find that Zorg kind has ever uncovered!

My point? Make sure that the build sheet is engraved on a plate and not just written on paper. The paper will never hold up the same test of time as that undercoat.
