A friend of mine has a 94gt completely stock in good shape just needs a little interior work. He wants 3k for it and I really want to buy it. I have previously owned two 91 5.0's and one 96 cobra. I really liked my 91 because of the ECM accepting all of my bolt ons. I have heard that the 94 wont be as willing to accept add ons like a larger profile cam and exhaust because of the new emmission standards they started with OBD2 and all of that. My question I guess is what would I need to do to the ECM if I wanted to run an aftermarket off road H-pipe and supercharger ect... without getting poor drivability and check engine lights. Any help would be greatly appreciated:shrug:

You can get a very decent mail order chip at a good price. I used JMS Chip & Performance Center. It won't be as good as a dyno tune, but it will save you a lot of money. You can do quite a bit with the stock computer. You can do heads and cam, exhaust, no problem. The cam profile has to be a little weaker than the cam profile you can run on a Fox, but it works fine with good cam selection. Steeda designed the #19 cam for use on 94-95 cars to replace the #18. The profile is the same with the exception of the lobe seperation. You can run entry level aluminum heads with a #19 cam without and computer issues. You can even do a blower, but it will not run that great. Exhaust work will not be an issue.

94-95 Mustangs are OBD-I.
OBD-II started with the 4.6L engines in the '96.

I've done heads, intake, full exhaust, gears, fuel injectors (with a Summit Racing MAF cal'd for them) and the ODB-I/EEC-IV is doing just fine on its own. Car idles and drives nicely.

I keep my car in good running order and thus I don't need a tune to mask issues that are caused by mechanical problems.

I'm not saying a tune wouldn't buy me some more hp. But, at my current setup I don't think it is worth the price to get a tune yet.

I've not done a cam swap yet. My plans and goals for my car don't require it.
