alright guys. I am wanting to upgrade my blower to the 2.6. I know Kenne bell says you cannot upgrade the 2.1 blower to the 2.6 cause parts are not interchangeable. but i think otherwise. I know i would need a cobra inlet, cobra tb, cobra intake pipe, 8 rib drive system and then fuel system.

I was just wondering if anyone has ever done this. I need to find a cobra inlet manifold too. and I was wondering if it would need modifying.

I dont really want to spend anymore than 3500 on it either. because if its more than that then im just going to run 14psi on the 2.1 and spray a huge shot of nitrous.

I am buying the mmr900 shortblock this summer and upgrading the rearend. the transmission wont be upgraded till it takes a dump. I dont want a whole lot of power just maybe in the low to mid 500rwhp range on motor. thats plenty for a street car thats why im thinking the nitrous route on top of 14psi would be nice cause then i just spray at the track.

tell me what you guys think. :)

I thought our block dont really like anything over 400hp? wouldnt 500hp be really pushing it ?

No. A stock short block will only handle 450rwhp due to the weak rods. the BLOCK is good for tons of hp. some people have pushed 6 bolt main blocks over 1000hp without a problem.

To the OP. I dont see why you cant make 525-550 whith a KB 2.1 at 14psi. I would get a quality set ported heads at the minimum, maybe even some trick flow heads and good blower cams and you would be set for sure.

All you need on that 2.1 is this New KB intake - MPH Forums

Should make it capable of over 600RWHP. :)

BTW I heard the only real limiting factor to the 2.1 vs the 2.2KB was the intake (inlet). Othwerwise it would be basically the same thing. Cobras regularly make over 600RWHP on the 2.2s...and thats with a restricted (although not even close to as bad as the GTs) intake.

Sibling rivalry.
hahahaha ding ding ding you win good sir lol

sweet thats what i was looking for at minimum but couldnt find an intake for it. cause the mach 1 kb kit comes with a 2.1 but the cobra inlet and it makes much more power and can run more boost than mine. and yes you are correct that is th main limiting factor in the 2.1 blower is that inlet.

but yes mmr900 short block then eventually the trick flow heads and a good blower cam and a 200 shot of nitrous shall do the trick hahahaha:nice:

im gonna push this block here soon like real soon lol. see how she likes 14psi with some methanol injection hahahahahaha. when it happens im going to get some videos so you guys may see a fast time or you may see a fast explosion...either way it will be an awesome video :nice:

sounds sick and all but i gotta know what the hell it is you do to get this money for this especially in the economic struggle we are in?

my dad owns a government contracting business that is not affected at all by the economy. i work for him during summers. I am in school getting my accounting degree and masters to take that company over when he retires.

the only way this company will go down is if the government takes away the military hahaha.

That's why I liked Vortech. The ease at which you can upgrade

I can put a huge YSI trim on my bracket for 2k which can support 1000rwhp or I can upgrade my little s-trim to a T-trim for 500 which can support 750+.

My original setup only cost 3200 tuned and now it supports 600.

yea sometimes i wish i would have gone turbo cause then it would have been easier to upgrade too but eh i love kenne bell. love that instant power but oh well ill make do with what i got. nitrous is always an option for me cause i still love that stuff. Im spraying my 600cc bike hahah

I really wanted to do the meth injection too but everyone here and SVTP that has a Cobra says the kits dont work that well on twin screw or roots style blowers

Besides, I hate the idea of a limited ammount of fun. To get one of the larger tanked kits (2 gallons) with the variable controller is over $350 and then I dont even know about filling the system up. Where to get the methanol or how much it costs is anoher mistery to me too

i am going to be running meth here soon so ill let you know how it works out. but meth is cheap. you can find it at many race shops or you could even use wind shield washer fluid but its got a lower meth content. its like 20-30% meth vs. 49% meth. and you would have to make sure its just meth and water and doesnt have other stuff in the mix.

oh and i am doing a compression test when i get back from school to make sure the motor is still good then i am racing this dumb kid this spring. ill be on 14psi with methanol lol against his inline pro turbo s2000. he finally agreed to race me on the track after constantly asking if i will race on the street.

he always told me he would race from a dig on the street if we could go till 160 mph and i just laughed at him. lol this kid is a complete tool and im excited to do some 1/8th mile against him. he says he will race me on pump gas but i doubt that lol he cant stand me cause i make him look like a complete fool in front of people. ( i like messing with him cause he screwed up his oil change when he tried it himself and used an sae wrench on a japanese car and stripped the bolt head hahahahaha)

he claims 450whp on it so its pretty quick but he only has like 250ftlbs of torque at 6000 hahah. should be fun i just cant wait to race him and put a hurting on that lil go cart.:nice:

oh and i should do pretty good just look at my newest 1/8th mile times in my sig. and that was on 11psi:nice:

Your KB GT has got my cobra...I think I did 94 or 95 in the 1/8....ran 7 something in the 1/8 but cant remember the ET...ill go check. SHould give you a good gauge of what you will run. But yea...thats REALLY fast, im very impressed :D

thanks man. yea my clutch wasnt happy after it lol. i gave the nitto about an 8 second burnout and got them really hot and reved it to 4500 and slipped it hard and i was giving more and more gas the more i slipped it lol.

it pulled hard i was very surprised with how it ran as well. im going to take over what you began on the 2vs and see what the stock motor can do :flag:

oh and when i ran that time it was about 45 degrees and i dont have a boost gauge so who knows it could have been making more boost than 11psi. could have been on 12psi to 13psi who knows lol. all i know is it ran strong.

Well i found my original thread, but no 1/8 mile times posted. And my time slips are in the midst of about 100+ other time slips I have aquired over the years.
My 1/8 probably wouldn't be totally accurate to compare with anyways as I had to get out of it in 1st from the freegin wheel hop...I forgot how many issues I had back then on those 2 passes LOL. But now that im on sumis....traction owns me and racing would be a wast of time.

I need to borrow your nittos and run at your track! Maybe ill just let you drive it LOL. Your car is hooking like an absolute mad man! 1.65' on freekin nittos....that has to be one of the best 60s I have heard from nittos EVER. Thats awesome dude...good driving thats for sure!

hahhahaha thanks man:nice:

yea they are 315 nittos on deep dish bullits. I think why my 60' was so good is cause my clutch is like dying and at a nice point of slippage lol cause my tires were not even chirping either leaving the line hahaha. i knew it was going to be a good run when the front end was in the air and it wasnt squealing lol.

just when i started going under the lights i took quick glance up and noticed a 7.4 something hahahaha and was basically screaming in the car hahahaha im sure someone on that track heard me lol. I was the happiest man alive :D I knew it was time to leave when on my last run i ran a 9.0 at 70mph hahahaha. i missed gears 2 and 3 it just didnt want to go in gear at all. i was going to coast across the line and then decided to get back in it in 3rd thats why i ran 70mph lol. my 60' that last run was a 1.64 too so it may have been even quicker who knows lol

its a decent track its called sumerduck sometimes they prep it well sometimes its like driving on ice. its about 250' above sea level.

i have got to get a new clutch soon though im still on the stocker with 78k on it lol.

oh and one last thing:

KB MUSTANGS FTW!:nice:

It also depends how a car is setup . I beat a lot of cars that did better or almost as well as me in the 1/8 in the 1/4 because they were better suited fot it.

My best 1/8 with 516/452 was only a 7.2 @ 100.69. But I can pick up over 30 mph in second half.

If I only raced the 1/8 most of the time I would run 4:10/4:30's gears instead of 3:73's for example. Plus I need some more improvement on my 60's and shifting.
