Did anyone else get a warranty upgrade letter in the mail from Ford for their 07? I was under the assumption when I purchased mine it had it my salesman stated it had a 5yr/60,000mile warranty. Then I get a new warranty guide in the mail and a letter stating Ford is updating the warranty on all 07's to 5/60 what gives? I guess it covers powertrain/safety equipment/ and road side assistance for 5/60, whatever I just thought it was covered anyway thats what my sticker says.

Your good to go at any rate. My salesman warned me agaist buying an extended warrenty. The reason being is you get 36,000 mile 3 year (at that time) with the car. An extended warrenty makes you pay for the 3 years all over again plus the additional coverage. It would be ok as long as you only have to pay for coverage that kicks in after your ford warrenty runs out.

Got a letter from ford for my 99 expedition last year, wanting me to buy a waranty for 10/100,000, truck already had 100 on it though, heh. I don't really care for extended waranties, if ford didn't make money they wouldn't sell them. If you haven't had major issues yet (in 3/36) then you should be good to go, knock on wood.

I have an 07. Didn't get the letter. I also thought that's what the warranty already was. It might depend on when you got your car or it was built. My daughter got an early 2007 Fusion and did get such a letter a couple of months after buying it in late 2006. That's my only guess that the warranty extension came a couple months into the model year.

Really early 2007's originally had a 3/36 powertrain coverage (same as the bumper-to-bumper coverage). This is what Ford had been offering for quite a few years prior. A couple months into the 2007 model year, Ford decided to up the powertrain coverage to 5/60 for free as standard on any and all 2007's (even retroactive to those that were sold before the change!). They also made the same offer on any remaining new (and as yet unsold) 2006 Fords sitting on dealer lots to help move them. The 5/60 is NOT an extended service plan (ESP), just better factory warranty from the get-go.

Those of you getting letters to buy ESP's are talking about something totally different than Punisher Racing asked about. Although, you can certainly upgrade the factory warranty with an ESP. But, Punisher Racing was referring to the standard factory warranty that was improved at no extra charge. Very different letters.
