Water drips from hole in firewall?

Okay, so the tell-tale hole on the passenger side of the firewall is constantly dripping water. My friend said not to worry about it its just the AC. Well i am currently waiting for my aluminum mishimoto radiator (come soon, come soon), and i haven't used the AC in months. Friend said," Doesn't matter." But it leaks a lot of water! When i stop the car i can hear it drip and then hiss when it hits the exahaust. Sometimes there is a 15 foot trail of water (no coolant) running down my driveway. Anyway, i was thinking its the heater core....? Any thoughts? Thank you for your time.

My A/C drips right on my exhaust.

And they can make alot of water.

mine also dripps on the header, but only when i run it on a hot day (hell, it's always hot here..)

Wait. Are you saying that it drips even without running the AC?


I kinda got the timeline screwed up there in my head.

so you have straight water dripping onto your header, even though you haven't run the a/c in months?

the heater core has coolant in it, doesn't it?

Yeah the hole drips water even when the AC is off. Haven't used it in months. So i'm not the only one?

Does the liquid have a scent? IE, coolant....

i'm still confused, is it on the header only, or inside the car?

and you don't know where the water is coming from?

this hole, it is in the firewall? or in a hose that runs through it?

i would think it'd be more like water pooling somewhere from rain or a carwash or something like that ...

It is just water, it comes from a small hole on the firewall in the engine bay on the passenger side. It just seems like a lot of water. ??????????? For some reason can't attach pic too big.

Okay. Now that I know that it was dripping without the AC on ... you may have a problem.


The AC does drip from that hole. However, when the heater core fails .... coolant will also drip from that same hole.


If you were not using the AC, my best guess is it HAS TO BE coolant. Unless your AC is running when you don't think it is. I can always tell by the lack of power, lol. You really need to check and see if it is actually water ... or coolant. Coolant has a distinct smell ... especially when burned. Try to catch some of it and see if it is clear or not and note the smell.


If it is the heater core, then for a temporary fix (since it is summer anyway) .. you can bypass the heater core until you feel froggy enough to replace it. Cuz it can be a PITA type of job.

Do u use defrost much? This will also use the AC compressor... *shrug

You commented that it was straight water, I would not worry about it.

If you want to fully git rid of the dripping, delete the AC...lol.

I use the defrost 24/7!!!! I don't like how hot the engine gets so i use the defrost on hot all the time... thinking that would help me get rid of some of the hot air. I will try not using it and see what happens Hey i really appreciatte everyones time and responses. Thanks.

LOL.


That's how it's getting rid of that hot air. Defrost ALWAYS cycles the AC on and off!!! So yeah ... no worries for you then.
