what kinda valve cover gaskets were you using? ive had mine glued to the covers themselves for 5 years and never had an issue out of them?

I think the key to RTV use is to use a thin layer, you should never be slathering it on in big globs.

i also have the summit high flow chrome one, it was put on in '02 and its still on there now

OK so secretly i use Permatex gasket tack on stuff....lol Especially a few spots on intake gaskets to hold them in place. Does the Ford manual tell you to install intake gaskets without the cork and to use sealand around the water port on the intake like most folks do? I'm not yet rich enough to own a fangdangled Ford manual.

I use the standard rubber ones from Felpro. I think it's a VS13264R, something like that. I really like the metal/rubber ones that are like $28/each, but they won't work with Canfield heads.

An oem Ford engine comes with rubber inserts between the intake and the block, not cork. If you buy a Felpro factory replacement kit it comes with the proper rubber pieces, not the cork ones. The manual instructs you to use a little rtv in the corners between the rubber and the paper intake gaskets. I've never had much luck myself leaving them out and gobbing on a layer of RTV instead.

im running the rubbers with the inserts on mine and i have them glued to the valve cover themselves. i just run the bolts down with a 1/4" wrench and ive never had a issue leaking.

on the turbo car we run a bead of right stuff around each intake port on a 1262 felpro and around each water jacket along with the great wall of RTV on the front and rear of the lifter valley. we see some pretty high boost and have had a couple passes with the heads lifting but never and issue out of any of the RTV/Gaskets on the intake.
