Hey all. I am currently running a Mishimoto alum radiator and dual fan setup. My car has always had problems with running hot. The t-stat and temp sensors are fine. Its been burped and burped again and again. It will heat up to about 190 pretty quick, and just kinda jump around between 190 and 225 while cruising locally or on the highway and this is within 15 mins. Doesn't seem to matter either way. I put it in 5th gear on highway and it will slowly start to creep back down oddly enough.

A little while back my water pump took a dump so I replaced it, with a stock one. I'm starting to wonder if it originally had a high flow or something on it since it seems to run hotter now, even with the alum rad and elec fans.

The only other option I have is to switch back to a stock size water pump pulley instead of the modded one.

Any suggestions on a good high flow water pump for around 200 bucks or less?

I have been looking at Jegs and the Edelbrock Victor series ones, but am unclear if those really flow any better than stock.

Anyone use these?

Any other suggestions?

Thanks!!

what fan are you running? My stock replacement water pump works great. Car would get a little warm with the clutch fan but with taurus fans and an adjustable controller i have no problems

The stock ford racing water pump is capable of cooling almost any setup you can throw at it.
If it's installed properly with no leaks, i doubt it's your problem.

Have you pressure tested the system?

The fans are Mishimoto as well. Bought the kit they sell on Jegs.

Yeah, the system has been pressure tested and tested with the dye stuff. No signs of any problems.

Its quite possible its the wrong direction pump....just took what the parts guy gave me at the store for a stocker.

id make sure you dont have the wrong pump then, i dont trust my parts counter guys to do anything other than swipe my card for me. My car stays very cool with the stock pump and an electric fan. You shouldnt need anything crazy too keep cool. Cincy isnt that hot :D

btw, i was in the area last night at a car club meet. Theres some pretty wild stuff in the cincy area

Yeah! There is a Quaker Steak and Lube in Milford OH that gets hundreds of cars every friday night. Always something to do with cars around here!

remove the under drive h20 pulley and reinstall the stocker or a cobra h20 pulley.

That was my next option, but since I like wasting money I went ahead and ordered the Edelbrock Victor pump. If that doesn't help, pulley is next. After that, there is no logical reason for it to run hot anymore.
