water pump , new engine old style car

Whar waterpump will work with 88 roller block in an 68?The 88 pump is standard rotation but inlet is wrong direction for a 68.I would like to use the serpintine belt system off the 88 but old style pumps are shorter depth.Any ideas how to make this work?

For a serpentine setup you'll need a reverse rotation water pump. If thats a stock 88 water pump it should be reverse. I dont think that they make a reverse rotation pump with the inlet on the side you need. I went through this with my 69 and 351 setup. I just went with the stock water pump to keep the v-belt. I think you will need to buy a different radiator (1970 and up) to match the water pump if you want the serpentine belt. If you change the radiator it would be a cross flow which cools better too. I'm not sure what is shorter in depth in the pumps, I dont remember that being an issue. Sounds like you could get a different pulley to fix that.

not all serp. setups are reverse rotation... 85 crown vic, 351w is not. im pretty sure all the mid 80's crown vics are like that. also, if depth is an issue, moroso makes spacers for water pump pulleys

I have the same issue, but the other way around. I have a new cross flow radiator, but still have the old WP with the pass side inlet.

So will a reverse rotation water pump bolt up to a 68 timing cover?
