Water pump questions?

My wife took the stang to vauline (spelling) to get oil changed and fluids topped off and they noticed there was a coolant leak, so when she took it to BIG O to get new tires she had them look at the leak and they stated its is either the radiator, the hoses or the water pump..im not the smartest cookie when it comes to 5.0's but i see this a an opportunity to replace all three with aftermarket parts. my questions are 1: will this water pump fit on my 94 gt 5.0 http://www.latemodelrestoration.com/...hed-Water-Pump

and my second is if i get a radiator with the two electric fans do i still need the clutch fan?

im open to all suggestions for aftermarket parts trying to keep cost below 400 for everything to get this done.

As to the radiator, I am of the opinion that a stock replacement one would be fine. I have a generic stock replacement radiator and fan and I have never had any cooling issues, even with the engine being so big.

Why spend extra money on stuff that doesn't really get you anything more? Just saying

Thanks man, the one i trying puting the link for is a polished water pump, that fits a 79-93 5.0 302, i was trying to go the polished look. now will the stock replacement hold up for more horsepower down the road?

heh, i also wanted a polished one, and all i could find at the time was for the foxes. and i wanted the march brackets and they were also only for foxes, so i ended up going with all fox accessories.

i ended up with this pump which is a high volume one. i selected it because it was polished, not for the volume, but that may help keep my temps down, not sure:

i went with a stewart wp and for some reason I was not able to use my asp underdrive water pump pulley(wp pulley hit the crank pulley). I swapped back to stock and everything was good. Ford racing also makes a stock replacement. It's a pretty easy swap. Just remember where each bolt goes when you take them out.

You don't need to upgrade the fan. The stock electric fan works fine. My radiator had a leak so I upgraded to an aluminum summit racing unit.

So you couldnt use a underdrive pulley on the aftermarket pump but the stock pulley worked....interesting thanks for the heads up...

how hard was the complete swap radiator and pump would you say

No, that will NOT work with a 1995 5.0 ... here's why:

The pulleys for the 87-93 accessories (water pump, alt, power steering, ...) are further away from the engine than they are on the 94/95s. So if you put a 87-93 accessory on your 94/95, the pulley will not line up. You need a water pump specific for a 94/95. The link I posted from Summit actually has a polished pump for 94/95s; it is the one that costs $191. This one:

And my '95 mustang no longer has a 302 in her; it has a 351 Windsor engine stroked to 410 cubes. When I was deciding on accessories for that engine, I went with ones for an 87-93 engine. That allowed me to also go with the March accessory brackets.

The factory fan works just fine. Stock cars seem to work just fine with the stock radiator.

if you follow the link i posted, it says "high volume". i guess that doesn't mean it is "high flow"? what is the difference?

Remember when I got duped into buying that Stewart, cuz all you guys said it was awesome, and then ended up returning it. It's not high flow or high volume or any of that stuff. It's got a stock casting and stock impellar. It's a way overpriced bone stock water pump with a less competitive warranty. The only thing advertised that I can't dispute is that it supposedly has a stronger bearing in it. But seriously, the SN doesn't even have a fan hanging off the front of the pump, so how strong of a bearing does it need. And if they lied about the high flowiness, I bet they lied about the bearing too. And then turn around and back up a $191 pump with a 1 year warranty, when the Advance brand cheapy pump for $70 has a lifetime?

There is a picture of a high flow on the left, and the Stewart on the right. If you look at the back of your stock pump, you will see that it's identical to the stock one.

Here's the Summit link to the Stewart pump that I'm using. Other than having a different part number I don't know what the difference is. It was installed on the belief that it is a better than stock WP.

That's a natural finish instead of a shiny finish. Still overpriced for a one year warranty.
