guys i need some advice one of my many snags in getting my 89 rebuilt and back up to par was one snapped off water pump bolt i tried welding a nut to it with little success i decided to drill it out starting small and working my way up and trying screw exctractors with no luck so i finished with a 5/16 drill bit and drilled the entire bolt out, now my question being is the stock bolts are 5/16 ? if so do i get a 5/16 helicoil kit and use the tap and then put the insert in and still use a 5/16-18 bolt? or do i need a diff size kit? thanks for the help in advance this site has been a great resource for my first build.

The factory bolts are 5/16, and the heli coil kit should work fine for you. I just had essentially the same experience within the last 2 weeks....
