Who makes a good high flow water pump for our cars? Should I just get a cheapo from Advance?

I dont have any cooling problems, but mine is leaking from somewhere...

Steward Componants is the only company I know of that offers a hogh flow pump for our cars. Summit carries them for seventy something bucks. Although the stock replacements from AZ/AA are not bad either.

In my mind, the choices are the Ford replacement pump (50 beans at Summit, but was backordered awhile back) or the Stewart that Danny mentioned. I went with the latter because I live in the desert...................... Otherwise, everything being equal, I'd get the Ford piece for 50 bucks.

Check the bottom of your existing pump - if you see staining egressing the weep hole under the shaft, the pump's bearing has seen better days.

Good luck.

I second the Ford Racing replacement pump. I got one on my 408 and it cools fine in stop and go traffic on 95 degree days. I also have a Fluidyne radiator.

It looks like its leaking from the bypass hose somewhere, but I just replaced the bypass hose and it still leaks so I dunno...for 50 bucks i guess its not that big of a deal to just replace it and see.

I've got a Stewart as well - great piece... even comes with RTV and a gasket.

I have a $25 Cardone 58-498 on my car. Had it with the blower too, no problems. The difference between this and a high flow unit is there are 2 more vanes on the impeller. They get to charge 2-3 times as much for it.

Joe, if we could get an A1-C pump for $25 bucks, we'd be on it like hotcakes. I can't speak for other locales, but around here you can't get a parts-store pump (reman'd or not) for under $50 beans. That's what makes the Ford pump enticing.
