Water spots on car?

Do you think that an acid bath will ruin the paint and the clearcoat? I own a 2001 Performance Red GT and a 2002 Torch Red V6 Mustang. Both of these cars have the water spots on the paint and/or clearcoat. The V6 has more spots on it because I use it as my daily driver all year round.

I am VERY concerned and worried that my private detail guy which I use (who does detailing on the side for me and who also works full time at a Ford dealership and does ONLY detailing and prep work on brand new and used Ford vehicles for the dealership) is going to take the paint off my Mustangs when he is giving it an acid bath. I am afraid that he might accidently make a mistake and do something wrong while giving the car an acid bath. I don't understand how this process is done so, I am worried about it. Also, how can someone do damage to the original paint job or clearcoat that's already on the car while giving the car an acid bath? What can occur if the acid bath is not done the right way? Can you explain this to me in detail so I can understand it? Thanks.

ford detailers put scratches and stuff on your paint...i wouldnt let them detail 'Kiss Me''Kiss Me''Kiss Me''Kiss Me'...and never use rags on your paint...you need quality microfiber towels...thank me later autopia.com

mine was also performance red...i tried everything but vinager or acid...was scared, i could only see them in garage though under flo lights..you can see yours outside?

Yeah. I can see the spots on the clearcoat on mine when the sun is shining on my Mustang. Under flourescent lights you can see many more spots.

I am just afraid that the detail guy might not know how to do the acid bath correctly and that he might ruin the paint on my Mustang. That's why I want to know if an acid bath can damage the paint and clearcoat on a car. If I just leave my Mustang the way it is, what will happen to the paint and clearcoat? Will it stay the same as it is now or will it get worse? This is assuming that I detail/buff/wax my car twice a year like I have been doing since I bought it brand new over 2 years ago. I have the detail guy buff and wax my car twice a year. If I don't get the acid bath, will the paint/clearcoat on my car look the same as it does now or will it look worse?

With water or acid rain etching iy is often hard to remove these by hand a Dual action polisher is reccomended for a beginner and a rotary for tough jobs but I would leave the rotary to a pro it just depends on the severity alot of things can be taken out of paint by hand it just depends how bad it is !

Acid bath? are you nuts just take it to a body shop and have them buff it out with a high speed buffer not the orbital buffer. It will melt and even out the clear.

After you wash the car or after it rains dry it and to prevent water spots take meguires final inspection spray and a 3M detail cloth and just wipe it down.

I am afraid of giving my Mustang an acid bath. What can go wrong if it is given an acid bath? Please go into detail about the things which can go wrong and if there's a chance that something can go wrong if an acid bath is given to my Mustang. Please be specific and detailed with your response. I know nothing about acid baths. Neither have I ever heard about this process. So, I do not know as to how or what is done when a car is given an acid bath. Thanks.
