correct me if i'm wrong but i'm under the understanding that the only manual transmission thunderbirds were turbo coupes, and if it were a turbo coupe transmission is it the same as the WC T-5 found in SVOs? What would you have to do to make the Turbo Coupe transmission fit to a 5.0?

thanks!

depends which year model your talking about pre 87 i believe had a three speed tranny i dont know if these will bolt up but there not the same as the t-5. 87-88 Thunderbird 5-speed transmission is a t-5 tranny that will be a direct fit replacement in a fox body so i hear...and the 89-95 had a M5R2 Mazda tranny...you need to run the tranny numbers located on the tranny to see what you have?

2.3 turbo t5s will fit into a v8 bellhousing. the only thing extra you need is a special pilot bearing. the 4cyl trans has a smaller diameter input shaft, and is rated for less power. considering a 5.0 will blow up a t5 anyway that was made for a v8, and i wouldnt do it

87-88 TC's did come with a WC t-5.

They are more similare to 87-93 4-banger t-5's than they are to SVO t-5.s I beleive the gear ratios are that of the 4-cyl Mustang. I beleive they have a 6 tooth speedo drive gear since they came factory with 3.73's

Not to jack the thread, (I'm doing the same thing), Would the pilot bearing have to be for the turbo coupe and the pressure plate, clutch disc and flywheel for a 5.0? Thanks.
