Just looking through some websites and it hits me, we (05 owners) are getting raped on performance parts prices. Is it because our cars are brand new and we can't go to a swap meet and get used parts which leads companies to be competitive?

Hell $300 and up for and Axle back? It's 2 mufflers, Flowmaster 40 series are $80/ea

Shifters for almost $300? Vice the old $180

MAC Prochamber for $400+. A prochamber for the older cars are like $200 and our cars are straight forward, with clean lines.

Blowers in excess of $4000 and most companies are mounting them like the old school 5.0 blowers which elevates the need to reverse the impellers.

I guess that I am just ranting but this does kinda suck. I love the 05 and love the way that the aftermarket has embraced it, but it seems like we are the sacrificial lambs for owning America's most popular new toy.

Gotta pay to play man. I feel ya on the prices, but no sense in complaining about it. People are buying the parts, and companies won't have a conscience about it and say "gee, you guys think we should lower our prices?" if it keeps up. I suppose you could try to organize a boycott.

One can't really be accused of "raping" the "willing."

If you pay the prices, you are really only raping yourself....or in this case, simply paying the "hooker" too much for something that you might get cheaper or elsewhere later, if you are patient enough. Competition in itself will see to that.
Remember, nobody is forcing you to buy anything....now. "Demand" is one of the key principles in establishing market pricing. Just like the "market adjustment" markups, the aftermarket people know how to play the game as well.

Be thankful you have a ready supply of parts always available to you. Some of us have to pay for the privilege of paying a lot more, just for remaining OEM NOS parts that in many cases are now pretty much non existant.
