Weight Reduction

I just bought a 92 5.0 lx coupe and I ran a couple of searches but nothing was helpful. I was wondering if anyone knew of any sites that would be helpful in doing a weight reduction on my car. You can also post up if you guys know anything about the topic. Thanks in advance.

I've got a 94 GT and i had the luxury of hitting a deer and having both airbags deploy...so theres weight reduction right there since i didnt replace them. I also have a MOMO steering wheel thats lights, i've stripped out my back seat and got a CF hood. Other then that you can remove your A/C and get racing seats i would say.

I already planned to take out the rear seats, but I never though of taking out the air bags, thanks! Anyother ideas.

removing sound damping material helps a good bit, i've heard that stuff weighs up to like 50 lbs.

remove the A/C, smog pump... move tha battery to tha trunk for better weight distribution...

I have put my Tbird on a diet, with a target of dropping 400 lbs. Here is what has been removed so far.
Complete A/C system
Air pump
Front sway bar
Fog lites
Went to a carb, so removed all the harness and computer
Aluminum heads
W/S/washer and pump
Heater and hoses
Replaced the Alt and P/S brackets with light weight aluminum
Installed aluminum UD pullies
Removed the complete under dash air box
Removed inner fender liners
Removed carpet padding
Removed sound deading stuff from floof and firewall
Removed radio and temp controls
Removed all speakers
Removed remote mirror motors
Removed remote trunk and fuel door controls
Removed front and rear inner bumpers
Removed stock exhaust system
Replaced 22 gal gas tank with 16 gal cell in trunk
Removed automatic seat belt system
Replaced 6 way power seats with polly seats
Removed cruise control
Removed charcoil canister system
Replaced steel return fuel system with aluminum
Removed rear seats
Removed rear seat belts
Removed passenger side power window motor
Removed door side impact braces
Removed remote door lock activators
Removed sound deadening from doors
Removed dog bone from rear
Replaced cast rear with Aluminum Cobra diff
Replaced drive shaft with composite one
Removed sun visors
Removed dash boad glove box liner (To make room for mounting MSD Digital 6)
New fiberglass hood


Pending
Lexan windows
Fiberglass trunk lid

Future, when they are released for sale for the birds
Tube K member and coil overs
Fiberglass doors

Weight at start 3,960
Weight last month when weighed, 3,275

About 300 lbs more to remove before Spring.
