After doing my 5 speed swap. My car is not running right, it idles high, and dies out when i press when in gear. I cant figure out! if its a clutch malfunction thats stalling the car out or if its the ECU. When in gear and i start rolling if i mash the gas it will 3k-2k-3k-1k, maybe stall depending on what it feels like doing.
I adjusted the clutch with the firewall adjuster from having freeplay to almost no play in the pedal and it seemed like it helped.
But then its doing it again, so i adjust it back to have the same freeplay as it originally had and now its better:shrug:, i havnt tried it again today, but i was wondering if there was a way to tell if my clutch it properly adjusted, or working right? I dont know anyone that knows what a 5.0 clutch feals like and its been so long, my 5spd in my gti is like a toy comapred to this thing, and i dont want to have a clutch that isnt completely disengaged/engaged.
I do know know if these ecu have to reprogram or whatever, and i do not have back up lights, and and i did have one wire hanging off the tranny that wasn't connected? and in the swap directions i was told i may have driving problems if something is connected wrong. help

If you can shift into any gear without grinding, the clutch probably is not the issue. I wonder if the ECU is struggling a bit. Have a friend you could borrow an ECU from for testing purposes?
