First off...thanks to everyone for contributing to these forums. I've found someone can almost always relate and help with issues here (I'll always try to return the favor if I can).

For the last few months, my car has been making this very strange moaning noise that comes and goes. The best I can describe it would be a deep boat horn heard from a distance. It usually just occurs after starting, and sometimes when I shift gears and lasts in 5 second intervals or so. I was initially just shoving it off, thinking it was probably something to do with cold temperatures, but it's still occuring in the recent spring-like conditions (though it doesn't seem to occur nearly as much after the engine has heated up).

Have any of you had a similar problem or know what might be wrong? I don't notice any change in the way the car drives or any problems elsewhere. Is the noise foreshadowing something is wrong with the car, or is it likely just some noise from age? Thanks.

I would look for a vacuum leak, seems like the type of noise you'd get form that. Start with simple cause and then worry later if its not so simple, i know wut its like hehe. Good Luck Bro

It might be the ABS self-test - I think the car performs this test during the first 10 seconds on cold startup ?
