Well everyone that knows me also knows that 2006 has kicked me in the Nuts daily thie year. Lets add to that problem......

I got the 95 a while back and had some overheating issues and could not figure it out and even broke down and took it to the shop and got the thing looked at. The flushed it all and they did everything they could to get it to overheat, no luck and I was able toget out of there with a standard fluch and fill. awesome.......

Well in May I was having issues starting the car, it would start but would crank like the fuel pump was bad. Turned out that the Cam positionint sensor was shot and needed replaced.......

Now this last week Monday the car was bouncing off the red zone for temp, and I mean bouncing..... Very incosostant, so I checked the coolant, checked for air in the system and began to piss me off.

So I filled the coolant, bled the air and then drove.... The temp bounced again. So i did the proccess once again...... Same outcome, 3 x

I had enough and then took it to the shop. Both heads are Cracked and Warped.........but the head gaskets are like Bran New.....

Continued.

I took the car in last thursday and they looked it over and began work on it. Called me and said the heater core if Fked, and that the Heads may be warped.

I said take them to the shop and mill them. Friday they called and said they were cracked and warped and I needed new ones. Monday rolls around and they say that the douche working the heads finds that the Valves are not stock NO ****?!?!? and has to work it longer. Tuesday he is still working the Heads, Wednesday they call and say that the guy has the caps for the injectors in the old heads still.......

Im working on the 7th day of being pissed now.....

So I ask the Price tag $2240 am I going to get a reach around with this????

OMFG!!!!!!!!

holy s#$& dude how much are they charging you for this??? thats f'd the mech should of told the the machinest/welder that the valvle were aftermarket and save him alot and you alot of time and work to fix a problem if you got the cash man i would just replace with new ones it might be cost effective i dont know

:SNSign:

OH we will never be going back to this shop again..... 2240 is the out the door price and we will pick it up in an hour.

The Kicker is I still need to change the heater core this weekend. You know that will be done here in the garage

Got the Car back.

Headache from losing the car all week - Not measureable
Parts - 1472.14
Labor - 645
shop supplies - 25
tax - 89.83
total - 2231.97

Girlfriend saying, "Hey Rich, So why dont you just modify the Convertiable instead of the 4 cyl. Go ahead do what you want to it, we will be keeping it for a while now." PRICELESS

I recently had my Heads replaced this week because both were cracked. Anyways, I was on the 3.8 forum and found a post that rose a question in my mind about the heads I now have.

The shop told me that they needed to get larger valve seats for the heads due to the stems being larger. I found the following quote on the ther forum and want to know your all input on it.

I am pulling this quote from another forum so bear with me. It was from a thread that was discussing the differences between the 94-95 and the 96+ V6's

The 94-95 heads had more coolant ports and those ports were also larger. Those larger ports mean less structual material around the combustion domes. Between the crappy head gaskets and overly flexable combustion domes its no wonder why they were prone to failure.

Some other differences:
94-98 have 3/8" valve stems (.375") and the 96+ heads have 7mm (.275") stems.
[/quote]

My questions if I am not reading into this that is.

1. Do you think that the shop used a 96+ head on my 95 for a replacement and just put all my fixins on the new head?

2. If this did happen, how can I tell the difference between the two?

3. If they used the 96+ head do I have a better chance now of not getting a blown head gasket?

4. I assume the 96+ is a better overall head?

There is a recall on 94-95 v6 heads/gasket.Have you ever had the recall done on this car? I'm not exactly sure what the recall replaces, though I work in the shop at a Ford dealership so I can run a check on the TSB database.I'll ask one of the other guys on monday.

If they did use heads from a 96+...and not use cheap ass gaskets, then you are better off than you were before.Make sure your radiator is in good condition.Have your cooling system pressure tested if you havn't allready. You can also bypass the heater core in the meantime untill you get it replaced...The 2 black hoses clamped into the firewall behind the pass. side cyl. head can be unplugged and plugged into each other.

That shop was a ripoff.Did they get brand new heads,or used ones? $1400 in parts? Did they individually list the cost of all the parts used? Those cyl. heads shouldn't have cost that much.......

I'm sorry you had to deal with crap shops like this one.It was that reason alone why I chose 5 years ago to start learning how to do everything myself.I got P'd off from shops charging outrageous prices for little ass things and charging for crap when they just pour sealant in a radiator and paint the old water pump to look new...instead of actually replacing it.....
