Weld Draglite/tire Sizes

i'm running 15 X 3 1/2 up front and i think there 15X8 out back. check out my link below to see pictures with the welds.

Do you have power steering still with those skinnys or manual cause i heard if you have power steering that those tires are horrible.

i have power steering, and have no problems at all. i have had them on my car since 97 and to me there is no driving issues at all with the skinnies.

I used to run 15x4 and 15x8 Draglites on my car before I changed the look with new wheels. I ran 165R15's and 275/50R15 tires. The rear wheels had 5.5" backspace and I ran a 3/16" wheel spacer to solve some minor, occasional off camber rubbing. Were I to do it over I'd run 265/50R15's on the 15x8 wheel in the back and 15x6" wheel with 195/60R15's in the front on a street car.

I have draglites on 2 of my cars and both are 15x8 with 5.5bs rear and 15x3.5 front. Front tires are 165-R/15 and rears are 255/60x15 on one and 10.5x26" slicks on the other. The slicks should be the same size as a 275/50-15 and I had to do some clearancing on the inner wheelwell near the shock mount. I also dont have quad shocks. I think they would fit if flipped but definately not in their normal direction. The 255's will clear quads fine. And I dont know what power steering has to do with anything. I have run skinnies on PS cars since the 80's. You just can get stupid and go flying around corners with them. The are pretty much meant to go straight.

On my original set of draglites (which lasted 2 days), I ran 15x3.5 skinnies in front, and 15x8's in the rear. Those skinnies are a bad idea for the street. I noticed a huge difference in handling as soon as I got them put on. They didn't feel right for driving on the street, even under normal driving conditions.

Anyway, trying to take a curve at about 60 mph (which I could do easily with fatter wheels up front), i turned the wheel, but my car kept going straight right up a curb, missing a lightpole by about 12 inches, and stopping about 2 feet short of a 10 foot drop into a field (this was in an industrial center). I smashed up my front bumper and taco'd the skinny, and bent the $h|t out of my rear wheel. So my brand new draglites were ruined. I'll never do that again. Point of the story is skinnies are not good for daily driver street cars, even though some people haven't had good luck with them.

Also, with 15x8's in the back with 5.5 backspacing, I had major rubbing problems on the quadshocks and tailpipes with 255/60 tires. I don't think turning the quads would've given me enough clearance not to rub.

These days I run 15x7 draglites all around and it is a much better setup for the street, although I wish I could have 8's in the back to run some 275s.

I run 15x5 in the front with 215/40 and 15x8 in the rear with 275/50
it handles allright.

The problem with Weld Draglites is that they only make the 8 inch wide rim in 4.5 inch or 5.5 inch backspacing. Leaving the rim sticking out of the fender or sticking in too far. They did make some for a while that had the right BS but they discontinued them. They were called Draglite XP's.
