Weld Racing wheels

Has anybody ever had in problems with Weld wheels????

I bought a set of draglites for the front of my car from a local speed shop. They were an odd size and had to be brought in from a distributor in Mich. It took 2 weeks. When I got them one's lateral runout was so bad it couldn't be balanced. I returned it. They had to bring in another from the same place. 2 weeks later...same thing...the rim was shot.

They reluctantly refunded my money and asked me to go somewhere else for the rim.

Only one other place here (Calgary,Can.) sells Weld. The have a 'no return' policy. If I get a screwed rim, I have to deal with Weld themselves.
I ordered the last rim from Summit today but am a little bit paranoid with the quality of Weld these days.

They used to be the best you could get for drag racing. I guess American Racing recently bought them out. I'm wondering if their quality control has gone for s#@t

I'm just using a set of 225/60/15's on the front, 27x10.5x15 M/T street ET's on the rear.

The fronts were never mounted. They would be impossible to balance. We put the bare wheel on the balancer. Just by spinning it by hand we could see the wheel wobbling. If he put the tire on, it would have shook itself of the machine.

The rear wheels were fine.
Both speed shops I went to never heard of any problems with Weld. That's why I bought them.

Just go through summit and check the wheels each time before they have tires mounted, if they are bad summit will replace them as long as they havn't had a tire mounted:shrug:
