Welding a Differntial. Possible and How Too??/

Hey guys have my car running nicely at the tracks except that the differential seems to not be able to lay down the torque produced. Want to do a cheap locker weld on the differntial and was wondering if anyone has done it and maybe some pics and addvice on the weld.

dont weld it together, pull the carrier, pack it with as many shims as possible, try to install, the crosspin probably wont fit, pull it apart put in slightly smaller shims try again, once you can just barly slide the pin in the rear end will be super tight, I dont see any need for aftermarket parts till your going for real low times.

The thing about welded rears is too many people half ass it & this is not be one of those things to take shorts cuts on, as the damage that can occur can be pretty major.

The trick is getting a good clean surface to weld. It takes time & requires more than a novice welder, but done right will work fine.

That being said, Id spend 99 bux on a spool & be done with it...
