I decided to do a little changing on the blower today, put the 14# pulley on and see what happens . Ummm........ya...... THIS THING IS RIDICULOUS! The car was only running 6#'s of boost on the 9# pulley so i thought I might see 11#'s on the 14 pulley which shouldn't cause any detonation. All I saw was 10#'s but it is very very fast. I'm guessing in the neighbourhood of 450rwhp but that's just the ass-o-meter. I think it's possible since I was at 370 with only 6#'s. There are no first or second gears anymore. They both just go up in tire smoke. Third gear is now a handful when shifting at 5500rpm, she walks pretty good. All in all a very interesting experiment, needless to say there are no other pulleys for this car anymore unless i can get smaller ones from KB . That 9#'er will never see use again . I'll see if I can get a vid that you can actually see something on. The car sounds like an 03-04 Cobra now, has a real nice blower whine.

It's still purple though.

j/k, must be nice

I am going to start pulling it apart in probably another month. The only thing i think is wrong is an intake manifold leak. i don't honestly think it is that bad anymore just because i raced my buddy at the track with his 03 GT with a KB, full exhaust, ram air, etc.. and i beat him and he was running a full 9#'s of boost with me only running 6. i don't think i have compression issues actually, I've been told by a lot of tuners and engine manufacturers that because i have more displacement, blower cams, free flowing exhaust, I should be seeing less boost but more power, which seems to be happening. There will be less stress on the engine with my setup. I actually have an e-mail in to KB right now asking them why i would see less boost just to confirm what everybody else is saying but they haven't responded yet. I'm gonna take the KB off in September to check the manifold gaskets, valve train, timing, etc. See If I can come up with anything. But for right now I'm gonna run the car and see what happens. I'm using a crap load of octane booster just in case.

The Lucas Oil Booster which is a race only non-street legal octane booster advertises 1 full octane point, not sure if it's just bs but . I put 6 bottles in just to be safe. My fuel sponsor hasn't got the race fuel in yet so he gave me a crap load of this stuff for now.

thats sweet, man i would deff get it tuned though. the boost problem is because of the cams since the over lap on cams. even though there blower cams they still have some which will cause the boost to be lower since its not allowing it to build as much pressure in the cylinder.

it's like 17 a bottle.. but treats 20 gallons to make 97 octane.. or 10 to make 104

Yea, there are octain boosters that put 93 up to 101+...1 full point is still safer than none. And I PERSONALLY have never seen an octain booster that just boosts 1 point. All of our crap around here does like 7 points.

see the problem with stuff liek that is when they say a point they mean 0.1 octane. So your only increasing it a tenth.

they will ship to ya tweaked

oh and the HOLY @$%#... I second that

Well i talked to my tuner today and he said there should be no problem with me running the 14# pulley with my tune. Because the A/F is a product of the transfer function of the MAF the car will not run lean, if anything it may go rich. When he tuned the car he had the tune get slightly richer at higher RpM than down low so he said it will actually continue with the trend and will actually get richer if anything. So off to the races for me ! We have our NHRA Division 6 Naional Open this weekend and i want to make a few passes. See if i can't hit a low 12 or even (very highly unlikely) high 11. That's probably the only time I'll get a vid made but i will try to get an in car run if possible. I don't exactly want to be doing it on the street.

Dude I do not care what anyone says, be careful man. You have a lot of money invested in the car, its an awesome car. I think you should go with a more conservative pulley on teh mad tyte blower yo... 9# for teh win...

I'm definitely not gonna be stupid with it. I've hammered on it a few times and there has not been a peep out of it, it is holding really well. I had to tighten up one of the idler pulleys cause I was getting belt slip yesterday but once i did that the car was crazy fast, even more than when I started this thread. I am only seeing 10#'s of boost on the 14# pulley. The system is very efficient and safe so I'm not very worried. i have a large enough fuel system to handle the power and as long as I'm ready to get out of it i should be ok.

yes losing boost through the cams and other mods is true. you have a better breathing engine. i will be dealing with the same issues plus i have ported heads...i dont know if you hve yours ported.

anyway, that is why i have to go with the novi 2000 because im gonna have to run like a 16 or 18 psi pully just to see 14psi.

should be pretty quick though! so that is normal you are not building boost as normal, but you are still making the power.
