Wife decided to get one of these instead!

2006 Subaru WRX STi

Mostly due to the snow and problems with the first year model run.
Thanks for everything!

Probably a good choice. I gave up on the '05-'06 myself since it looks good but everything else with the car says Lemon. I have never seen so many problems with a car for such a long time. I was looking at the GTO but I myself want something I can drive everyday and not put away in the winter. I took a EVO MR out last weekend and I really liked it and Mitsu is offerinig some good finance deals so I might go with it and I will still have my FOX for the summers to cruise in.

STi's are pretty fun. i had an 05 WRX for a year. the car has some good modding capabilities. i pushed it from 170hp to 230hp for like $1100 (stage 2 from a friend). this is AWHP. subaru makes some reliable cars too. one of the magazines published (the one where they review like a million cars), they gave almost all the subaru cars a "top pick" . www.clubwrx.net is a good site for any information u might need about the car. also, www.nasioc.com is another good site.

Can't argue with that decision . My STI is hands down one of the most fun cars I've ever owned.

Those STI's have a lot of potential. There is this kid running around town that has one that supposedly pushes close to 430AWHP before the bottle, and that he throws in a direct port 150 shot. Whether or not it's true is to be determined, but I do know people have cranked a lot of horses out of these cars.

Question...What is the deal with the "AWHP" ****?

as if it's actually more power because it's AWD?

just something that's been buggin' me.

... next thing, you'll be expecting people to know the difference between gross, net, and wheel.

Silly Pog', you know you cant throw logic at the world!!!!

It just stares back with that deer in the headlights look.

...Although I think if I was to buy a "new" car, I would look reeeaaallll hard at some of the 05 STIs. Found a couple the other night on the net, for 28,xxx. Then of course a few clicks away was the power package (programer, full exhaust, hoses, IC, cai, boost controller, etc..) good for a *claimed* 450 crank.

BUT alasssss, my ex-wife gets all my play money. ...I wish cigarettes worked faster.

Anybody claiming 450 bhp with those mods is claiming ~30% driveline loss .

Dave

P.S. If you ever do get a wild hair and buy such a creature, skip the boost controller, it's unecessary with the ECM reflash (and without a reflash, it would blow up the motor in a hurry).
