I was about 2 hours late of seeing their first GT delivery....anyhow....They had a black BASE V6...i mean BASE...So i drove it

First off the car's interior is an improvement but not that big of a difference...you can still feel the "cheapeness" of plastics...but nice

The instrument cluster is very large ...it looks small in the pictures but it is huge and VERY easy to see

The seats were comfortable but not great (cloth)

I popped the hood to check out the powerplant...the hood is SO light...compared to my MACH1

Did you guys know that there is no trunk release button in the car?

I started it up and reved the 6....Suprisingly it sounded AWESOME for a 6
I had a '95 V6 and a '00 V6.....this '05 put both of them to shame vocally

On the road it was what you would expect from a V6 stang ....not fast but responsive..

The handling was good....didnt feel like a mustang....feels almost european type

Overall i liked the car BUT it still feels like a 20K car.....

Ive waited a LONG time for this car....and you know what....im happy with my '04 Mach 1

I love Mustangs and i always will....im not trolling or whatever you wanna call it...i am just eager to share with you fellow "stangers" about my experience today

You guys will see what i am talking about ...nice car but SOMETHING missing ....I just cant put my finger on what it is

I have now seen 6 05 mustangs at dealers... And let me tell you.. Even in a base V-6, the car is simply awesome. Much improved over the box car of 04. It's got much more attitude and actually has a personality. If I were you, I would have traded dead even for that base V-6. :)

Im not talking about Speed or power...

OK, I got you now, I bet what is missing from the '05 Stang is all these great characteristics that the 99-04s have:

The unstable twitchy handling
The shaking and flexing of the unibody
The squeeks and rattles
The ackward angled out driver's seat
The crappy seats
The road noise
The shifter that you need gorilla arms to reach
The seatbelts that never want to retract
The wind noise
The bumpy bouncy ride

Did I forget anything?

oh... I got you now...

EVERYTHING you just mentioned is STILL there Except for the reach to the shifter....

Have you driven the car?
NO you havent....

Man im telling you ALL of those things are ther i looked twice at what you wrote...
They are ALL there...go take one out for a drive
You'll see

Not sure if anything's "missing", but as far as looks go I know what you mean about the '05 body style. I think the '05 is a beautiful looking car - but with cleaner, subtler lines than the 99-04. I happen to prefer the sharp lines of the older car (yes, even the fake scoops) but I haven't seen an '05 in person yet and I suppose it's possible that I simply haven't gotten used to the new look yet. I certainly wouldn't want Ford to keep cranking out the old body style for another 10 years either - even if it meant upgraded internals.

I think the sharp lines are what make people who like the 99-04 body style like it so much (and turn off those who don't). My other favorite stang body style is the '65 - if that means anything, although it looks nothing like my '04. With looks, you like what you like - it doesn't mean either car is better or worse.

Sounds like you're LOOKING for bad things in the 05. I drove an 05 today and that stuff is there and its there for just about everything in this cars price range. HOWEVER, its MILES ahead of how bad that stuff is in anything 04 and older. Including your Mach.

I have driven both a V6 05 and a Mach 1. The 05 is much quieter (wind noise) handles much better, seats better, shifter if better.. EVERYTHING. Your car is now obsolete. :) Just like mine. Get used to it. You will be :owned: by every GT now.

Owned???????
Yeah O.K.
Maybe a 04 GT but not a MACH
Doesnt matter ...you guys think i have buyers remorse......

I cant wait for my 05 GT to come in ...i have to wait 8 weeks....im getting a black with red leather
Waiting 8 weeks is not good for me B/C of the fact that when it does come in it will be in january and the weather in the NY area is not favorable to a 300 HP vehicle
I purchased my Mach B/C it will be a Collectors piece one day and is a AWESOME car

guys... we have some trolls ont he site but the guy didn't seem like he was actually bashing the 05... he just said he's happy with what he has (A Mach 1, and he should be...). He didn't refute that the 05 is probably a superior overall car, he just said it wasn't swaying him... cool it...

I have not been able to drive an '05 yet, but I was able to sit in one (GT) and start it up.

While I can't comment on handling, road noise etc, I can say that the seats are 10 times better than what my '01 GT has and the driver's seat is pointed straight forward, not angled out like SN-95s are - a much more natural seating position. The seat belts on the '05 also retracted without any hassles (unlike my '01), so scratch another SN-95 complaint off the list. The '05 also has better leg room than my '01, while having just as much (if not more headroom).

As far as handling goes, for now I'll have to take M/T word on it, since they said that the 2005 GT went through their slalomn test faster than any Mustang they ever tested, except for the 2000 Cobra R (that is is handles better than Mach 1s, other Cobras with IRS, etc.)

But I will say that the '05 is not perfect, the high center console / driveshaft tunnel will take some getting used to. I wish the steering wheel telescoped, I really would have liked soft plastic on the dash and inner door panels and I think the Shaker speaker grilles on the doors are ugly.

I'll let you know as soon as I get to test drive one, but based on appearance and sitting in the driver's seat, I give Ford a 9 out of 10 on the '05.

that conflicts with what everyone else who has driven the car says. i have yet to hear anyone say that handling, ride, sqeaks and rattles and wind noise has not been drastically improved.

i have not drivin the 05 but i have seen a couple of them along the way. seen red one at phila. auto show, and seen a yellow one at a mustang show.

im sure that there must be things better about the 05 such as handleing and 300 hp, but the looks of it are not there. ( to me at least) it is kind of bulky and not as detailed as the current car.

then again im compairing it to my car that is completly modded looks wise. stock for stock i still like my boys 02 stock gt better then 05 looks wise.

i have seen a black 05 gt recently that did look good to me, but i think it looks better because you cant see some of the lines cause of the color. i think that is off on the 05 styling (the lines of the car).

just my opinion, i can see why this guy would be happy with his mach, cause im happy and i only have a gt.

however my car is a show cwr now, and i knew when i bought it thit the car would be completly redone, i mean everything. i still have tons of work to do so i guess the the 99-04 gt vs. 05 gt doesnt pertain to me.

im keeping my car for a long time 10-15 years or as long as i can if things go well with it.

i just dont think the look of the 05 is that great, but i cant wait till they are on the road. im sure the tunner cars will be awsome looking though.

I don't think so.... I'll even give you a headstart hotshot! :D

I own an '03 Mach and I drove the '05 GT and will say this. If I were in the market for a new car, I'd buy the '05 GT. That said, I wouldn't trade my Mach for one. I don't have anything bad to say about the '05, but its just not a Mach 1.

Just one... The car is not a sport compact lol Its got a FRAME not unibody

I like the 05's, especially the V6 vs the previous gen, much improved. However, I cant get over the fact that you can get a 04 Cobra for nearly the same price as the 05 GT. Who in their right mind would get a 05GT over the Terminator? :hail2:

And if you are worried about plastic quality, squeaks, or ride quality get the Fvkc out of a Mustang. They are designed to go fast & look good for cheap. G35's are much nicer inside, just as fast, but $10k more. You cant have it all, so stop complaining. :owned:
