Well, I have decided to once again get rid of my Mustang for once and all. I think I keep them for about a year then sell them. It's just getting that I am tired of driving it around and I really want something a little more comfortable. I am looking at getting a 98 318TI BMW. Slow but better gas mileage and more comfortable. I plan on taking my stereo with me to the BMW but that's about it. It's going to be listed on the trader page along with the autotrader next week.

Well, I guess I spoke too soon. Maybe I will hang on to this and just get me another car. I went yesterday to go get that BMW 318ti and as I was pulling up to the light to pull into the dealership, I saw the car pulling out of the lot with the dreaded dmv record on the front windshield. Man I was bummed. The guy bought it for his daughter for $10,500. I knew I should of went there on Friday or got there earlier. I would of loved to get a 325 but they were double the price. So now I am just going to wait and see what happens, maybe in a few months I can get me a 325.

doh, well good luck on trying to find the car that you want. sometimes it's hard to do, but you'll end up with one you like.

are you looking for a little commuter car that you can have as well as keep the mustang? if so, you might wanna check out one of the ford zx2's or focus'. i know they aren't much for performance, but they are fun little cars to drive that get good gas mileage.

Nah, no Focus or Altiima for me. I want a BMW, I figure I have to wear a tie for my new job I might as well drive something that looks professional. Not saying they are bad cars, just want something a little more yuppie looking. That BMW I found was a steal and it didn't last long like I expected. Just wish I would of got down there sooner. That Altima sounds like a sweet ride, but I would rather have your Nissan Vert!

I found a 2000 323i today for 20k and it's certified pre-owned. Don't know if I want to go that high. I could get a 325 brand new for 31k and have no maintenance plan for 5 yr 50k miles.

?

hmmm only 11k more and it would be a completely brand new car exactly how you want it plus the warrenty and no maintenance plan. that might be worth it.

I know, it's driving me nuts thinking about it. Right now I have no car payments. The only bills are the mortgage and one credit card. I could do it with no problem but it's nice knowing you don't have a payment, but it would be nice knowing if something goes wrong with the car I don't have to pay for it.

I'm in the same situation Brian, but I've got to get the family either a Suburban or Excursion. We roll SIX deep now I hope there is enough money left over that I can get myself into a Infinity G35 Coupe. I'm currently doing the paperwork for a home equity loan. Have you given any thought to that route. Low APR's stretched over 15-30 yrs how can you beat that

I just refinanced the house at 5.62%, paid off everything and have money to upgrade the windows and kitchen with. My wife was just offered another job at $400 a month more than she makes now but she doesn't want to take it. I told her she could buy a G35 coupe for herself with that raise. I might just keep the stang now and get me a BMW for a daily. I have been looking for either a 98 318ti or a 98-00 323is. I missed that 318ti the other day for $10,500. I figure the wife can get the G35 and I can drive it now and then. If we get a G35, I could just use the Escape for work. The new BMW 325i's are only $32k plus no maintenance costs for 5/50. That is a big temptation. So many ideas running through my head right now, but not sure what one I want to do. I do know I am getting tired of driving the stang as a daily. If I had left the original springs on it I wouldn't mind as much, but it just hates the bumps and so does my head. Luckily my A/C works good but it just eats up the gas.

Man I totally feel for your situation as I'm in the same boat as you and it is sinking fast I too am considering replacing the H&R's with the stock springs to cushion out on the 70 mile trip to work. I guess we are getting OLD. LOL Thank god that my A/C still blows cold air or I would be in deep trouble. But like you mentioned earlier NO CAR PAYMENTS is a huge plus.
So when do you want to get together to lend each other a hand in putting on those stock spring

That may be something we do, just have to wait for it to cool off. What sucks is that last month I put some camber plates on. I am still looking for a 96-98 BMW 318ti, I want it for work. I looked at one today but it turned out to be a manual but it was super clean. They wanted $8500 for it. I know the auto will be a dog when it comes to power but I need the auto for work and driving around town. The 318ti is a hatchback and the back seats lay down. Hell it's got disc brakes all the way around.

Live and learn brother, Live and learn. I know exactly what you mean it feels like youve just threw your money on the ground in a crowded mall.

Yup. Now I have this noise coming from my right side wheels. I believe it to be my wheel bearings. I might buy some new ones this week and repack them. I need to drain and fill my brake fluid also. My brakes are giving me some problems now too. This coming weekend is the Qualcomm tent sale so I might be down there scoping out a new ride. The wife knows I want to keep the stang around for a while but she's not keen on the idea.

318ti's are ugly and 10 grand for a 98 is way too much. I passed on buying a 96 M3 for 10,500...also the 318ti is very slow...very.

If you want a car with good gas mileage get a Mini, you could probably buy an 02 base model for 13. might be a bit too much. But for 10-12 grand you should be able to pick up a good 95-97 M3. It has disc brakes too

Pat, yeah I want the brake parts. As far as Mini's being in the 12-13 range, try 20k. I would love to have a Mini but they are still up in the price range. A M3 would be great to own but the best price I have found on one is in the 15k - 19k range. I was thinking of a 323is, the reason I like the 318ti is because of the hatch. I work out of my car and need something I can get good gas mileage in and carry some stuff. I want a BMW because it looks a little more professional than say a Toyota or Nissan.

Well, I guess I'm not done. I fixed all my problems yesterday so now the car runs so much better. I haven't found a BMW that I want yet so I guess I will just buy me a beater to drive around for work. So if anyone knows of a good little gas mileage car that someone is selling for around $1500 let me know. I prefer a Toyota or a Honda.
