Went to NMRA event today in K.C.

Well, I went to my first NMRA event today and I was overwhelmed to say the least. It rained at like 9:30 but cleared up quickly. There wasn't really that many people there, but it still was fun as hell.

I felt like a kid in a candy store.Talk about sensory overload. The event was like a procharger festival(which was cool with me).I saw Doug Mangrum and Don Walsh Jr.'s cars up close and I can't get over how big and complex everything is on their cars.Especially their s/c and intercooler.OMG.

I really wanted to run my car after seeing how small the fields were but lack of traction and the t-5 kept me from trying my luck.I can't wait til next year. :nice:

Yea b/c of the location and time of the year...not many racers made it. I looked at the results and was glad to see Cosby lay it down after the weight change. Not happy that Meyer red lit in the 1st round of R/S though.

I think everyone owns it to themselves to attend either an NMRA or FFW event... it will change you forever IMHO.

this is very true. and go with a male member of your family. it brought me and my dad closer than i ever thought we would be. now we go to all sorts of shows together. finally, bonding time with my old man. only took most of my life :rlaugh:

It definitely brought my family together. This pic says it all... that's me in the right lane and my dad in the left...

Sweet. :nice:

I need to convince my dad to get a fast car...03-04 cobra maybe...

b.t.w. There was a guy today(yesterday) that kept smoking the piss out of something other than his tires every time he did a burnout.I'm pretty sure he was burning his clutch ,but it was soooo funny.I kept hearing people laughing every time he attempted a burnout. But at least he got out there which is more than I can say for myself. Oh and the first car I saw of the day snapped his driveshaft as I was walking by to my seat. That was pretty nifty.

I was going to go to the KC event, but I figured it was going to be small since it was the first year there. I went to Columbus Ohio and that was a good time. If you guys can make it you should go to the Illinois NMRA event in Joiliet July 23-25. The track is beautiful! You would never believe that such a track exists.

I agree with you guys about the family bonding thing too. My Dad wasn't too keen on modding my Mustang, but after attending an event he really got into it.

And its nice to go to an event that has real clean cars, and most of them are running custom computer tuning devices, EFI, etc. After awhile you get really sick of seeing the same old carbed big block or 350 motor at the local tracks.

Not good really, had problems on the way down so I missed 1st and 2nd rounds of qualifying. The car also still isn't really ready and it showed. I expect to see much better things at the Joliet race next month.
