The BULLITT kit had tokiko blues. They were just rebranded to Ford OEM units.

What I want to know is, are the stock 01 Bullitt/03-04 Mach 1 Tokico shocks/struts (which are black) the same as the Tokico HPs (Blues)?

I have the bullits for now- have had them on for years, but have some H&R SS springs ready to go in for more of a drop and more level stance, but leaving the . I believe the Bullit kits are different than the Mach 1 kits in that the Bullits have the Tokico Blues under the covers and the Machs had the Bilstein shocks/struts.

Oops, I missed this post a while back.

Maybe they are "Tokico Blues", but they aren't blue. They are black.

I guess what I meant is: are the STOCK Bullitt/Mach 1 shocks/struts the same as the Bullitt suspension kit, and are they the same as Tokico Blues?

My granddads 04 Mach 1 has the black Tokico shocks/struts, which I presume to be the same as the stock Bullitt shocks/struts. I think the Cobras came with Bilsteins.

Regardless, here's the reason I ask. I have the Tokico Blues paired up with STOCK Bullitt springs (from an actual Bullitt). My granddad had a STOCK Mach 1 which he put Eibach Pro-Kit springs on. My car rides like pure compared to his stock Mach 1 suspension OR with the Eibach Pro springs. I'm trying to figure out if the springs are the cause for that, or if the shocks/struts also bear some blame.

When you say "rides like poop", what do you mean. Stiff, hard, hurts like hell if you hit a pebble in the road? Or still feels like it is floating a bit?

I have the Eibach Pro-kit, and it wasnt bad at all....until I added my bilsteins. It was a night and day difference. It is a lot stiffer and I can feel a lot more of the road, and I dont want to change it....but I am. I am going with a new setup with the engine for street/strip with coil overs and strange adjustable shocks. Send me a PM if you want some bilsteins and pro-kit springs .

Anyway, I have never been a fan of the bullitt springs. They are only 8% stiffer than the GT springs and truly only about 1/4-3/8" lower than the GT springs. Also, those tokico black black shocks and struts are ok...but cant hold a torch to a set of Tokico Illuminas or Bilsteins. Ford has them valved for a "stock" feel. Even in the GT500, Ford made it so that it rides decent. The blacks are more comfort oriented than performance oriented.

Just my 2c....get a good set of progressive springs and aftermarket shocks/struts and go from there. You will never look back.

It rides VERY stiff. You feel EVERY little dip and valley in the road, and bridges or overpasses....OH GOD. Sounds like something is going to fall off the car at those times. It still 'floats' a little bit, but I'm sure that's because I don't have FLSFCs yet.

You are way wrong about the Bullitt springs, though. The stock Bullitt springs are 600 lb/in in the front, 250 lb/in in the rear. Stock GT springs are 450 front, 210 rear. That's 33% stiffer in the front, and 19% stiffer in the rear. I installed the Bullitt springs, and removed 1 isolator from the front and rear, and got 1.3 inches in the front and .9 inches in the rear (the rear would be more like 1.1-1.2 if you accounted for my sagging rear springs).

I might be interested in those Pro Kit springs. I'll get up with you after Christmas.

And back on my original concern. When looking up those spring rates, I realized that the stock Bullitt springs are identical in spring rate to the stock Mach 1 springs. There is my dilemma. WHY does my car ride SO much worse than a stock Mach 1? According to that site, I've got springs with an identical rate (maybe slightly lower, though), and you guys are telling me that the shocks/struts are the same as well. Could all be true, but still makes me wonder why it rides so bad.
