So on my way to school this morning a woman in a big ass van decide she would cut out in front of me...and well now the mustang is totaled..words can not describe how i feel right now. I'm seriously so pissed off because all the work Ive put into it is gone...sub frame is tweaked over and the front apron is pulled down. the impact also cracked the windshield. and well the seat belts did there job. until mine gave way and now my head reallllllllly hurts from smacking the steering wheel...everyone was ok so that's the only good part about this. i know its totaled...estimate was for 3,1xx and they totaled it at 2,100....its 100% her fault. she pulled out from behind a parked car and trued to make it into the driveway accross the street to turn around...i smashed the braked and they locked up and boom. cop cited her with failure to yield. the cop was real cool about it and could tell i was really sad about the car. even though I say id like to sell it and get something different having everything you have worked for crunched in a min really sucks.

well here are some pics...i have no idea what her insurance is going to give me. but im sure there gonna try and low ball me. people who have been through this before i could use some help, i really dont know where to start. if i show proof of all the things i have bought for the car will that help?

pics...it really dont look bad but...its totaled.

i seriously am so down right now

i know though... the car would be down for to long. ill most likely end up buying it back from insurance and then putting the motor into a roller.

Hey man, keep your chin up. **** happens. Any time you have something you're proud of you're at risk of losing it. Keep an open mind and look for the bright sides. If nothing else, you can wave a big middle finger to everyone on this board that said you'd be the first one to mess it up.

That sucks, it looks fixable, it doesnt even look that bad at all.

From certain angles it kinda looks like a widebody kit.

Weren't you looking to get into a hardtop of some kind anyway? Might be the time to find a clean 5-speed roller?

Sorry to see your ride get wrecked. As others have said, that should be a pretty easy fix. If you like the 'vert, I'd probably pull everything off the front end, and get it on a frame machine. Glad that the woman at least had insurance, and that you should be able to get something out of it. Things can always be worse.

ryan,

That is almost identical to my wreck. Sorry to see that.

http://forums.stangnet.com/showthread.php?t=743113

Looks like mine took a harder hit. My first estimate was for $3500. This was OEM parts. Usually, all estimates are high.

Wreck also not my fault. Other drivers insurance company came and looked at the car. If you have receipts for all your work, they should take this into consideration in terms of vehicle value. They did in my case. Cut me a check for $2900. Best news is car is not totaled. New hood (Cervini's heat extractor) arrives tomorrow. Car goes to body shop Monday.

Do you even have the police report yet? I'm surprised the insurance componies are taking any action without it. Do not sign or agree to anything. Gather ALL you receipts, make copies, and have them with you when the adjuster shows up.

Sucks man. I know exactly how you feel. I know its hard (especially on the first day), but keep your chin up. BK is right, that is a very easy fix. Worst case, take the money, fix it, salvage title.

Also, talk to some body shops. They will work with you to bring cost down.

Ryan, I have saw worse than that get fixed.

Heck man, My vert sat in a junkyard for 2 yrs from a front end collision worse than that. We fixed it. And you know what the car looked like when done.

Take the ins money buy the car back. You can drive it as is? If not You can beat the inner fender around like BK said. You will come out with cash in pocket.

Go get the dog house from S&B If its free all you pay for is gas. Il is not far away.

Its still saveable. OR Take the ins money buy the car back and part it out and buy something else you want.

Frame straightener, nose, fender, lambo doors

Seriously man, I had an 86 GT worse than that. Well except the whole top frame thing.

Grab you up a little 4 cyl notch for nearly nothing.
