I just bought a cluster off ebay, i also bought a new speedo cable from a 91 GT only because my stock cable took a dump. Is anything else needed to complete the swap or am i good to go??

Well if you are going to swap the cluster you will need to rewire both plug harnesses as the wiring pins are different.

Otherwise you can just swap the actual speedo mechanism. You'll just either need to carefully swap the speedo face, or get a set of gauge overlays

So basically its easier to just replace the actual speedometer instead of the whole cluster huh?

Sorry for the simple question, but what is different between the plug harnesses? And by harness, do you mean the lights, signals to the gauges, etc? Just asking because I picked up a complete dash with a 140 speedo for my 1988 as well. Came from a pre-air bag car and I was assuming they were a direct swap.

If it's from a 1989 with 140 then it's a direct plug and play swap.

However if it's from a 90-93, the two wiring harnesses that plug into the cluster are wired differently. I mean those two...they will need to be rewired.

When did air bags come out? The cluster I bought is square along the bottom and is definitely from a pre-bag car.

1989 was the last year for non-airbag

Mid-way through the 1989 model year, Ford changed from 85MPH to 140MPH speedos in the V8's
