What all parts are needed for PI intake swap?

Ok guys I am gonna do a PI intake swap on my 98 GT and I was wondering what all I need to install it? I know that I will need a set of NPI gaskets and a set of PI gaskets because I have adapter plates for this intake. What else do I need to finish it? I thought i remember something about needing something that sits under the intake like a heater something i cant remember. Help me please guys.

Hey Bob...

Here are the parts and numbers...

*Thermostat housing o-ring: F1VY-8507-A
*Heater/coolant tube: XR3Z-18B402-AA
*Water pump nipple: F75Z-8555-AA
*Water pump o-ring: F1VY-8255-A
*Alternator bracket: 1R3Z-10153-AA

The alternator bracket you have now can be modified to work...just have to drill a new hole.

PI heads
Intake Manifold (with aluminum coolant crossover)
Head Gaskets
Intake Manifold Gaskets
Exhaust Gaskets
TTY Head Bolts
Heater Transfer Tube
Oil Dipstick Tube

Also, the coolant crossover should be drilled and tapped for the temperature sensor.

i sent him a pm cause they info i had given to me was in my pm box so it was easier.....as far as this info being available its been posted alot so if you search you will find.

You don't have to do that, you can also get a 'T' fitting and connect both sensors to it, you just have to extend one of the wires.


if you check around you'll see most of the people who did this had cooling problems because the sensor wasn't getting correct readings due to it being out of the flow loop.......thats why everyone looking to swap pi intakes looks for the newer version. So drilling and tapping should be done if you wan't it done right.

A machine shop will charge like 7 bucks to do it. WTF is the big deal?

there is a few who have run it like that with no problems....but i remember when a few guys started doing this a couple years ago and were having issues and actually were tapping the sensor into the blocks until the newer intakes came with the aluminum crossover.

you can use it but your running the same risk as the all plastic npi intakes....CRACKS around the thermostat housing. Eventhough this was supposedly addressed and beefed up for thr pi plastics. :bs: try to sell it to someone and oick up one with the crossover. just a thought.
