This is kind of long, but I REALLY need to rant. For the past week or two my clutch has been messed up. A friend told me it was my clutch cable. Got the part but I've been having a hard time getting my mechanic to fix it because he's always busy.
Drove my car to school today. Got into town and went to shift into fourth. All the sudden I heard a loud pop, it slipped out of gear and starting making this ungodly loud tapping noise. Great. I thought my clutch cable broke. Got towed to the nearest garage. $65 for towing, less than 10 miles. But I didn't complain. It was worth it.
Got to the garage before they opened, so I sat outside for about ten minutes and waited. Finally they get it in. It blew a spark plug out and stripped the thread. The car always had an exhause leak but when the spark plug blew out it like caused a bigger hole I guess. So both things were fixted and it was only $275. The place was excellent and I'm not being sarcastic. Everyone was professional, they did good work, they were fast, they were cheap, and they were all really nice. While I was waiting I jogged to school, 6 lanes of traffic = bad idea.
So that problem was fixed. But the clutch was still messed up. Grinding gears, popping out of gear, not going in gear, etc. I went home, and called every repair shop to see if anywhere could fix it today. Only one place, I went to check it out. When I got there the guy pulled out my part to make sure I got the right thing. Really dude, it's not rocket science. The way he decided it was right? It looked long enough. He burnt his hand on my motor while "measuring". I was freaking out but let them look at it.
An older man drove it to the back. He stalled out THREE times! I was like do yall want me to drive it back there?! Then the guy tells me its the entire clutch and it's gonna cost me $875. I was like I'm gonna need to go home now. The older guy comes in and asks me "do you have another set of keys?". They dropped the keys under the hood, locked the doors, and shut the hood. WTF. They get that worked out and I leave. Pulled out on the road and guess what, MY ****ING HOOD FLYS UP. The dumbass didn't close it properly. I closed it, wipped the car around and headed back to the garage. I explained to everyone standing there that the ******* mechanic didn't shut my hood and it flew up. I explained the proper way to shut a hood. I told them I would drive my car into the ground before I ever let them touch it. I told them to kiss my ass. I walked out and not one person opened their mouth the entire time.
In all fairness I wasn't going fast enough for it to actually "fly up", but it did pop up and go in the air. I feel sure they shut it and tried to push down rather than letting it drop shut. Whatever, I've never had a mechanic not know how to shut my hood. Really, what is this world coming to?! Almost $400 later and I STILL can't drive my car.
