What are everyone's thoughts on Explorer intakes?

I currently have a ported Explorer intake on the car. The upper was ported for a 70mm TB (I'm running a 65mm), and the lower's been ported to a Fel-Pro 1250.

Now a friend of mine brought this up to me the other day...

Seeing as how Explorers are made for low-end grunt, do you think this would be a bottleneck in my set-up, eventhough it's ported the way it is? Would switching to a GT-40 or Cobra upper (if I can just find an upper lol) be beneficial?

Just something that's been on my mind and thought I'd ask..

Thanks again for any help, fellas. :nice:

i got me a 94 cobra lower, 96 explorer upper...along with a bit more high end, i lost some low end....and its ported for 70mm and the runners are nice and smooth

My my explorer intake(inlet ported to 80mm, not by me though, very ported lower, by me) my torque reaches it's peak around 4000-4500 RPM. I love the low end. Of course other things like my cam help too. I have stock ported heads, which were also ported by me.
