I have a 5.0 motor with stock heads going into my 66 and before it goes into the car I want to get a cam.. but I want a cam that has a good torqe curve and gives some more HP at the higher RPM but I dont want to lose any downlow.. its not a racer its a daily driver but it could use some more..

if by 5.0 you mean a late model HO roller engine, just keep the stock cam. Its a good all around cam that makes good power and torque. The stock heads can't use much cam anyway. More info would be helpful-what trans, rear gear ratio, driving style, etc. If its an older hyd. flat tappet, you have plenty of room for improvement as the stock cams only have about .380 lift and around 180 duration at .050. Since you plan to use the stock heads, a dual pattern cam would help out with exhaust flow.

oh

well I want to get new heads someday but I cant afford it right now..

The engine is a 302 HO and im putting in a AOD with 390 gears.... it will have a performer intake and 4bbl carb.. I love a nice torqe curve im not into peak HP only.. id rather have a 20 HP increase at 4000 then 6000 RPM if you know what im saying hehe..
