What cams should i get?

I have never said that a Bolt-on TBird will make 300 RWHP. The TBirds that are making 300 RWHP, are making 300 or more RWHP. Kris Danner, Johnny Langton and Pete ???( don't remember his last name ) are the cars I refer to when I refer to 300 RWHP N/A TBirds. Yes, I happen to know the mods on those 3 cars. There is nothing special about their N/A cars.

hey and who the heck cares what a SVO head flows anyways? Dang am I suppossed to know every flow # on every head? Dude all you do is cause arguments, your always cutting people down and spreading FALSE information based on "well my friends friend had PTV with stg 1 cams" ect.

You called BS on the SVO Headflow and were shown you were wrong,now it is a nothing deal. I have not said friends of mine. These cars that I refer too are based on threads at other sites, such as Modular Depot. There is one car I know of that has PTV and VT Stg I cams, I don't remember where that thread is. I am not going to look for it either. If happened once, it can happen again. Why are you so against installing cams properly?

Read this page on from Modular Depot. 2 Comp Cammed cars, one has 270's, the other had 262's and they had PTV and didn't know it. Keep laughing clown. I am not looking for others but there are including a nice motor destroyed by PTV and VT Stg II cams.

They said that on MD too. When it was shown that cars had PTV with their cams, they said it wasn't their fault that they were installled improperly. Yet it was Scott and Jim that said it was OK to install the cams the way you did and the way that the cars did that had PTV.

The few cars that are having the issues with VT and PTV are 99+ cars. They are not headswapped 96 - 98 cars.

I don't have a magic tricks hat, I just don't always bring the threads from the other sites where it has happened. You say you do so much research, yet you laughed at what I said, and by posting 1 thread from another site there is 2 cars that did exactly what you are laughing at. You better start doing some more research before you start laughing. Yes the were Comp cammed cars, however, it has happened with VT. VT to a lesser extent but never the less it has happened to them as well.

I don't have to go and show how many 2V car's engines were lost to PTV. The majority are Comp, but there is some VT cars happening now as well. When you do a search on PTV destroying an engine, it is mostly Comp cammed cars, and I really don't feel like reading through the hundreds of threads to find the ones that had VT cams.

You are the one who got their panties in a bind and started the name calling. You can't take it when it comes back at you. I have done my research and you said I am the one who should go over to MD and read, when it is you that should be the one spending time reading up before you make the remarks you do.

Show me one that had VT cams and PTV ...where the cam wasn't installed a tooth out. I'm not being a knob, I honestly don't know of any. Degreeing cams in is ALWAYS the best way....you are correct, especially with FORDS crappy cam gear tolerances.

I doubt many people that screw up and install a tooth off will admit it on the boards. first thing many would say is " THAT POS CAM F-ED UP MY MOTOR"

this is why I am always skeptical about product complaints on items that can be messed up with a botched install.

But I just went and read that thread and that seems like a legitimate one.

this goes to show ALWAYS DEGREE CAMS.

Alright THANKS VT! I was about to PM you guys lol.
And that link TGJ doesnt count....the guy had aftermarket pistons/shortblock...we are talking about stock motors here.

So my point still stands. That you CAN install VT stg 1 cams through the valve covers without any issues...you called BS and cant back it up. I never said degreeing wasnt a good idea...but thats the hole point of the stg 1s. Ease of install.
If you tear everything down with vt STG 2s...then go ahead and degree the cams. I NEVER suggested againts that.

I will admit that you halfway got me on the PTV thing...but I covered my butt and said "even if the pistons didnt go, your valves would get beat to heck and wouldnt seal"

the guy in your link had PTV and the same day tore the engine down if I read that right. He wasnt just driving around like that and then one day decided to pull the heads when he found the dents. If you look, Boss330 comes on and says that if you have PTV your valvs will go soon after...will bend them and ruin the valve guides. that guy just didnt hear anything happen(probably about deaf lol). But soon after he would have known.
So yea apparently in some rare cases the pistons will survive, but mostly not. Just ask 01 steeda..he had PTV and it completly screwed his engine. ALOT of others cars did the same thing.

Look, I dont know everything and never claim too...Im not perfect. But ill NEVER EVER give someone information that I know to be false....and as it stands I didnt. Nothing at all wrong with what I said...but thanks for pointing that out.

That was Mike Horne's car and Bryan @ TSS was installing them. He called me about the PTV and he did in fact have them 1 tooth out on the passenger side .....

AHH that makes sense. As I said before I read the thread, many people don't want to admit to a mistake or don't realize they made one and then go and blame the product.

BUT you should degree ANY performance cams. TGJ is right about that. I have seen too many people destroy brand new motors by skiping this step.

In short VT is teh WIN! . From what I read, 1 tooth = 17*s

BTW TGJ and hotmustang331 keep the argument clean and non personal, take the personal stuff to PM's instant messangers or real life fighting for all I care but don't ruin this thread with it.

I am just trying to cut this off before it becomes a e-fight on this forum. you and TGJ are both good members here and I think this is a interesting discussion. just giving a general not pointing any fingers warning to both of you to keep it clean so it wont have to be locked.

well from my personal experience.. VT has great customer service, great quality parts, great everything. I love my Stage 2's in my daily driver.. and I haven't even tuned it yet. (only stalls every once in awhile until its tuned lol)
