What can make my hand brake light turn on other than having the hand brake on???

Everytime i brake, the light turns on and off. Even while just driving, it will turn on and off, or just stays on. I have checked to see if the hand brake is up, but it isnt. What can be causing this????

Thats a great question! I'm having the same problem lol. Have you checked your brake fluid? I was actually about to go out and look at some things on my car, and that was gonna be one of the things I was gonna be looking at. Anybody else haev this problem?

Well, i dont remember when it started doing, but i think it was when i changed brake pads, ill fill it up to the limit if it needs it and see how it goes.

generally a low fluid level will cause it. looks for leaks in any of the lines, especially where there are fittings. did you flush out the brake fluid when you did the brake job? its always good to flush out the system whenever you replace the pads.

im getting the same exact thing you guys are......i think it can be one of two things its either that the pads are wearing out.....or it can be that your braking hard because mine only comes on when i brake hard.

I always thought it was triggered by low brake fluid. (Besides the handle being up)

The light is either triggered by the e-brake..or low fluid.

NEVER fill up the resevior with fluid. There are two reasons why it's low.

1.) You have a leak (rare on new car)

2.) Brake pads are worn and pistons are extended causing the fluid to be low. Replace your pads and the fluid will flow back to the resevior.
