What carb would you run?

I got a 750 Speed Demon in my 86GT with a 357 (.030 over 351W).I could have gotten the Mighty Demon for like $40 more.I have head that the holley hp carbs are very good.talked with on of the guys at the local speed shop, said his buddy with a fox body (forget what year) picked up .3 tenth's with a mech sec. Holley HP carb over a vac. sec. Speed Demon (both were 650cfm).Of coarse looking at price the holley hp is almost $200 more than the speeed demon.

I would bet that gain was from going from a vac secondary to mechanical and not just an advantage of the holley.

I'd get a 625 Demon with Vacuum secondaries for your particular set up. A B Cam is a relatively small cam and makes good vacuum (being hydraulic [roller]).

I'm looking for more of a race carb than a street carb. For winter drivability, I'll use the Edelbrock. For racing, I want max power.

For that purpose, would you go 650 or 750?

Don't even think about putting a 750 on there. You would likely lose a good bit of power that way. Too much carb is just as bad if not worse than not enough carb. a 650 with mechanical secondaries would be PERFECT.

I have a 650HP SERIES prepped by quickfuel on my small block...You need not go any bigger than that.
