What causes tire hop and how do you get rid of it???

My '70 fastback is fun to drive, and more fun to spin out, but half the time the rear tires start hopping and I feel like I'm in High School football all over again. Besides that, it looks like hell to anyone watching! Is it the tires, the axle, or what???

Assuming the rear suspension is in good shape, get some good quality traction bars. That should stop the hop...

what causes the wheel hop is that the axle try twist the leaf springs and the leaf springs fight back causing the tires to hop off of the ground. traction bars keep the springs from wrapping up a limiting alot of the wheel hop.
