ok i dont know what clutch i should go with. im going to have all the mods listed in my sig and wont have nitrous until prolly next year. i want a good clutch that will last a while and something with a good pedal feel. right now i have a FMS HD clutch and it has a very stiff pedal. ive been told that the spec and centerforce are good clutches but im goign to be running a stock tranny and dont want somethign that grabs too hard and shells the tranny. i will be upgrading it with a D&D performance 2.95 super alloy gearset. which clutch should i go with??? thanks

With your mods to come I'd get a SPEC stage II.....

The pedel feel is nice and they will hold 600hp also

Check out the link for PERKS in my sig, he's a SPEC dealer

Another vote for the Spec II...but I do know that my cousin has the Centerforce DF clutch and the pedal feel is awesome...its softer than my stock clutch with about 4000 miles on it...I think I need a new cable

I'll chime in for the spec stageII also. Love mine and am really going to punish it behind the 418 We'll see how long it lasts I would also recomend doing a aftermarket quadrant and firewall adjuster. I did and love them, got mine from steeda. KEEP the ford cable though. Good luck.
mike.

That spec stage 2 is going to grab like an on off switch, if you are running a stock t5 and any decent amount of power, you are just a power shift or two from needing a new transmission if that is what you want, go for it, but based on your original post, I wouldn't suggest it.

FYI, I am one vote against spec. Their quality control is known to be not so good, and They chatter like a 'Kiss Me''Kiss Me''Kiss Me''Kiss Me'er right out of the box, and sometimes never go away.

My bro installed a stage 1 spec in his mustang. Chattered like all hell, 5100 miles later it is still chattering, and it is now slipping. I won't know until we pull the clutch if it is a manufactoring error, or our cars fault, however, all seals were replaced before install, and he is running a new tremec.

1 vote for something different.

i have a Center force DF and its horrible, the pedal is so light its almost non existant, and it wouldn't hold up to my motor(and its not even that power full)

friends that have had CF's lost a few stock t5s to the clutch. they eat up t5's for some reason...

i will be getting a spec stg3 next month, i think you will be fine with a stg1 but if you want the extra peice of mind go with the stg2

My stageII did not chatter and had smooth engagement?? I put about 5k on it behind a 303RWHP 302, and am going to reuse for a season behind a 600FWHP 418. FWIW, I ran it with a tremec. Sorry to hear you're brother had bad luck with them, but 1 out of probally 500 to have that sort of luck. Just wondering, did he ever contact them about this problem??

i was talking to a guy at D&D performance. right now i have a rebuilt tranny that i am going to stick in the car and the stock tranny is goign to get a 2.95 super alloy gearset from D&D. they said htat the spec and centerforce grab too hard and would shell the tranny very quick. they said to go with something less aggressive and recommended their SHD 10.5's clutch kit. has anyone ever ran this?

I have a Centerforce Dual Friction and after numerous launches behind a 470RWHP motor w/slicks, it stil looks brand new and engages smoothly. I have never owned a Spec, but have heard lots of good things about them. D&D will naturally recommend their own product, but I've never heard of anyone using it.
