is it the valve body???
if i got a new semi manual VB for my AOD, would i get spots for all 3 gears and a drive setting and of course N R and P???

Can someone give me the basic run down of valve bodies???

You can get a valve body with detents for each gear (D21). OD is activated by an electric switch.

Dont know if you can get this for a AOD, but for a 3 speed tranny, you can get a reverse manual valve body which changes your shift pattern from PRND21 to PRN123 and makes the transmission fully manual shift.

Lentech makes a valvebody for the aod that makes your pattern P R N 3 (OD spot) 2 (D spot) and 1. You turn the OD on with a electric switch. If you leave the shifter in OD it shifts automatically up to 3rd and then you just flip the switch for OD.

The shift pattern is enginered into the valvebody.

AOD (stock) is P-R-N-OD-3-2/1
AOD (LenTech) is P-R-N-3-2-1 with OD being engaged/disengaged by a switch
C4/C6 (stock) is P-R-N-3-2-1
C4/C6 (aftermarket reverse pattern valvebody) is P-R-N-1-2-3

You would not get a detent for all three gears plus the OD. It would be just like stock with OD activated electronically.
