Im putting mine on now and I remember you all were using different torque specs then stock, i think. What was it?

30/50/75 ft/lbs is what I did mine.

Intake side
09 05 01 03 07

same thing here.

some people will torque the intake side 5 pounds more also. i never did and havent had problems yet.

I think i did the same progression but as per edelbrocks directions i did the bottom ones to 70ftlbs and the top ones to 80ftlbs

Ok sweet, for the bottom bolts, did you use RTV sealant or teflon tape or ???. Thanks guys,I think i might get this engine in a day earlier then expected!

I had ARP head bolts.

This is the tightening procedure I used on my AFR’s –
Top bolts: 30lbs, 50lbs, 70lbs, 80lbs
Bottom bolts: 30lbs, 50lbs, 70lbs, 75lbs

They have held up well over the last 15,000 miles or so on my daily driver.

I used 10w-30 oil on the top bolt threads with antiseize under the bolt head/fastener.

I used ARP thread sealer generously on the bottom head bolts with antiseize under the bolt head/fastener.

I used antiseize. No need for RTV or teflon tape as they don't pass through any water jackets.

The bottom ones do pass thru the water jackets. That is why you use thread sealer on the bottom bolts.

Pretty sure. I used the white stick. Now that I think about it, I think that is thread sealer. Maybe the gold stuff was anti-seize. Now I'm confused. Either way, you can use thread sealer on everything and be good.

EDIT: Saw David's post after mine. Is the white stick thread sealer or antiseize? I used the white stuff on all mine. I don't even remember now.

I have permatex plastic pipe sealant, thats the same thing right? I also have the ARP assembly lube.

Arp recommends 60 ft/lbs for alumimum heads using their thread sealent on the lowers and their moly lube on the upeprs. I ended up going 70 ft/lbs instead. I used permetex thread sealent on the lowers and arp moly lube on the uppers. You should follow the bolts instructions, not the manufacturers instructions for tq specs. Put some oil under the bolt so you don't dig into the head dry.

Yeah the white gooey/sticky stuff is the thread sealer. Antiseize is the gold (copper) set That is what I used...

I used the torque specs that worked. ARP bolt specs are "okay" IMO but I use it for the car needed. I don't use their universal specs on paper. I use what seems to work best with mustangs and not every car

Def use the ARP lube on the long bolts and sealer on the short bolts then torque them all to 65 lb-ft. That stuff is the best around!!
