Help please, ive been asking this question and need to know! I know you need the bellhousing but what else? will everything else from a fox work? I am buying a fox billet steel flywheel, a fox spec stage 2 clutch, and want to buy fox Cross member & tranny mounts. Will the fox stuff fit for the Cobra Tranny?

Yes it will, but you will need a Fox '93 Cobra specific input shaft and any fox steel throwout bearing retainer.

The thing with Cobra T-5's is they use a revised pocket bearing designed to minimize mainshaft deflection which usually leads to 3rd gear blowing up. The revised bearing requires a unique mainshaft and input shaft. If you had a GT t-5, you could simply swap any old Fox input shaft and bearing retainer on and be done, but because it's a CObra trans, you will need to locate a '93 Cobra spec input shaft. I beleive the T-5Z input is the same.

The Sn95 driveline is a little less than 1" longer than the Fox. Ford compensated by stretching the bellhousing and the input shaft on the trans.

Alright, well cuase the owner had it in a 88 LX 5.0, and stated "all that was need is the 94-95 GT Bellhousing". He said its a World Class T-5.

Here is the Link to the Ads Tranny

Was I lied to, or did he mis-interpret anything?

According to that ad, it sounds like he didn't install it. I don't see why he thinks it is that much stronger than a Fox T-5, a Cobra T-5 is rated for 310 ft-lbs.

He is right in a way, if you did use the SN95 bellhousing, it would bolt up fine. Thing is you may need to have your driveshaft shortened and possible slot the holes in the tranny crossmember a bit. Also, the shifter would be pushed back slightly.

I don't know the details of that exact swap though.

If you used the Fox bellhousing, you need to swap input shafts. If you use the 94+ bellhousing, tranny will bolt up fine. (i beleive it will even work with the fox spec clutch and flywheel no problem). You just need to make up for the extra lenght somewhere.

So basically if I do the bell, thats all I would need? No shortening?

Ok, a little misinformation goes a long way. From what I understand from D+D the pocket bearing change is in all '93 and up T5's. I have it in my '93 lx and have another on the floor waiting for parts to rebuild that is a pocket bearing tranny. I did the '95 T5 install in a 5.0 converted '88 turbo coupe and all we had to do was swap in a '93 spec fox input shaft for $150 and use a fox bell and forks. Not a big deal, just remember to get the bearing if you order a rebuild kit to redo the tranny before installing it because it isn't part of the standard kit.

My understanding is the pocket bearing change was for the CObra-spec T-5's only.

Nope, suposedly all V8 T5's. I even heard somewhere that they changed to pocket bearings in '90, but I can't verify that. The fours stayed the same as previous fours.
