What do i need to do to have an Autometer electric speedo work in my 90 lx?

I'm going to be changing out the entire dash due to faulty gauges and I would like to use an electric speedo so I can calibrate it for my 4.10s more easily. I did a search and didn't find much on the subject of replacing a mechanical speedo like I have now with an electric. Is it possible?

Seems to me you'd have to see if the signal from the VSS (Vehicle speed sensor) can be used to drive the electric speedo. The VSS plugs into the tranny, and the speedo cable plugs into it. It provides a speed variable frequency output so the cruise control can work, and also taps into the ecu (pins 3 and 6). Seems to me it's at least theoretically possible since you have the potential for a speed sensitive signal - whether or not their speedo can use that signal is another thing.

That's what I figured but reality is usually a different story. I'll send an email to autometer and see what they say.

Here's the info Autometer sent me.

"Yes, our electronic programmable speedometers will work with your
application. However, you would need to run our Programmable Electric
Speedometer sender part #5292."
