What more do i need to hit mid to high 13's, dont want anything i can't do myself (assume i have the gears installed)

you should be damn near it with the gears


If you're not quite there... a set of good sticky tires will definately get you there

I'm with bigsparky - basically stock cars with exhaust, gears and traction/good driving are capable of running in the 12's, let alone mid to high 13's.

Keep in mind - those stockers are usually running long tube headers with a good exhaust system, 4.10 or 4.30 gears, either slicks or drag radials, suspension mods to help plant the rear (drag shocks, no front sway bar, adjustable control arms, etc.) and they launch and shift the cars like you can't believe - very low 60 ft. times given the power of the car. So, unless you have those mods, you're gonna go slower. But the potential is there if you learn to drive and dial in the traction. Doesn't take any more power than stock to run the times you want to run - it's just getting every bit of that power to the ground.

I agree, gears and some sticky tires will get you there. Good driving wouldn't hurt either.
