It doesn't seem like a Mustang maybe because it doesn't have the aggressive look of a Mustang. It needs some hood and side scoops and more aggressive looking rims. Other than that, the body style is really nice looking and the horsepower is excellent.

Yeah, definitely needs more tacked-on fake crap. Too bland in its perfectly executed design...

Yea then add some vinyl decals, fat tailpipes and a giant spoiler, slap some Cobra badges on a V6 and it will be perfect.

Doesn't seem like a Mustang?! This car is everything Mustang is supposed to be.

Yeah, and the panel fit is too good and the body isn't near flexy enough.

It's a good "entry level" sports car.

I own an 05 GT too

It's not a Corvette (or a Ferrari) !!!

But for under $30K, it's really hard to beat in looks, power, and handling.

It looks to me like Ford has a big hit on their hands with the new mustang GT. I've been looking at the early arrivals at my local dealers and they are very impressive. They are all dressed up with leather and nice wheels and most of the colors are good. Im personally waiting until February to place and order for one that will suit my tastes, or maybe by then I can find one on a dealers lot that is exactly what I want. And that would be..........................

05 Silver GT
5 Speed Manual
Dark Cloth Int. /IUP
Dark Bullitt Wheels
Shaker 500 Audio
Security System

Has anyone seen my dream Stang..............???

The thing about appearance is that it's always subjective. If we all liked the same thing, there wouldn't be so many different cars/trucks to pick from.

I was disappointed when I saw one in person. To me it looks better in the photos I've seen than it does live. The biggest disappointment however is size and weight. Like the GTO, hard for me to get excited about a "sports car" that with a full tank of gas, and two 200 lb. guys in it weighs 4000+ lbs. - and unfortunately that's where the new Stang weighs in. A Cobra version (if SVT isn't dead) will likely have a curb weight close to 4000. Unforgiveable.

So, LilHog, reactions from folks like me will make it easier/cheaper for you to get yours. Those of you that like it - go for it, and enjoy!

It owns. I like them stock and I can't wait to see them tricked out. It's a sweet ride. The Mustang has come a long way. It only continues to get better.

I agree. The 05 is clean. I bought a 2000 Mustang and it had a spoiler on it and I didn't think a Mustang should be without one. Then I traded it in on an 04 without a spoiler and although it took me a while to get used to it. I like it this way too. It does look less cluttered. I guess you have to have one without all the non-functional crap on it to appreciate it.

You are so right, looking at this car I would never be able to tell the difference between it and say.........a Saturn? The car is unmistakeably Mustang.

Doesn't look like a Mustang???

I know that I am an old guy but this is the first new Mustang the 'looks like a Mustang' since early 70s. Everything since then copied the general trend of the era. The boxy Fox platforms and then the jelly bean shape of the SN95. Followed by the edgy shape of the 99+. I owned a fox and SN95 myself, but I never thought that they looked like Mustangs.

Are we having fun yet?

Seen several now, and it is a great car!

Power, look, and sound of this car are awesome! It drives great, better than the previous mustangs. The only consistent problem I have seen is the seat leather. I know this has been a problem in the past, but it seems worse now. I just saw a GT at my local dealer and the leather on the driver side was already sagging and wrinkled. And no, it had not been driven a lot - it just arrived with only 13 miles on it. I am sure a few guys sat on it, but it should be holding up a LOT better.

Other than that, the car freaking rocks! The best one since the 70s!

I'm with you, pal, and I'm probably older. I was in high school when the Mustang came out. This is the first Mustang since then that really looks like one. I love it.

I am driving your dream Stang! I was at the dealer when the semi pulled into the lot with that very one purched on it. I am still having trouble getting the smile off of my face.

Yes, the 05 body style is a modernized copy of the old 60's Stangs, so I don't see how anyone can say it doesn't look like a Mustang. It might be best if the younger crowd would assess the 05 on its own merits, and not just on how it compares in looks and styling to the models they have grown accustomed to. Just because its very different doesn't mean its automatically worse ... or better for that matter.
