What Do You Carry And Why?

I've got a thing for HK. I could ask for anything for Christmas and hope to get it. If it was a firearm I had a lot better chance of getting it. That's how I picked up my first HK USP 45. I've got two now. I've shot lots of others. Wish I had more HK stuff in my collection, but they are proud of their stuff! German cars? Depends. German guns. YES!

Picking up on Thursday next week.

I have one of those and its my favorite handgun out of the 10 or so I have.... To me buying a handgun is all about how it fits in your hand... Best deals around are at RKguns.com online, but I hate to buy a pistol ( or a rifle) without checking to see " how it fits me".....

I had made up my mind a year or so ago that when I buy " a new " carry pistol it would be a Sig P365 with the longer magazine... Perfect pocket gun, light small and if fits my hand like it was made for it..... My Neighbor has one and I have " handled" it a few times.
I have been looking at the P365 SAS and think it would be even better. Its design is to hide all of the sights so they do not snag in a pocket ( when the gun is needed) ...
Of course my local Rural King has a sale on the standard P365 going on that is hard to say no to....
Gun, extra magazine, $50 RK credit, 50 rounds of ammo..... $429 plus tax........ Sale ends this weds.............

I think Bentley and I will drive over tomorrow ( tues) and have another look at the one on sale.... He cleans up all of the popcorn on the floor ( Rural KIngs are a free coffee and bag of popcorn place) and they also give each dog a free Pigs ear.... nummy

I was looking for 20 ga target loads at a Bass Pro Shop/Cabelas. They had about every round available except 20 ga, and only a few boxes of 12 ga. The kid at the register, (with a top of the head, short pony tail instead of a man bun, and looked like a malnourished vegan), asked if I found everything. I told him I really needed 20 ga shotgun shells for the blue rock shoot that evening. I got a blank look. I said you know, skeet or trap shooting? Nope.
I had to explain it, and he that sounds like fun, but had never heard of it.
At least he was good with the register.
The local places were also out, and I gave up and went to Wal-Mart. The Only ammo they had in their decimated section was target loads for 12 and 20 ga.
I still have my second rifle, a 20 gauge pump from Sears & Roebuck, my father bought me in the mid 60's.... Seems like it was $19.95.....

sweet ... did you get a holster? I buy from Holsterpro ... been using the same iwb edc holster for probably 8yrs now still with excellent
retention - that was my small business recommendation
was looking at a Beretta Tomcat ... smartly, also looked at availability of ammo ... didn't pull the trigger (pun intended)

Here in Florida, its shorts, flip flops and t shirts 362 days a year.. Really no where to hide a holster, I am too fat for IWB type...
Best place is my front pocket, why I have a couple of sub compacts....
Just read a shooting story that if the bad guy tells you to give him your money, you have a much better chance pulling from your pocket VS a holster....

yeah, funny how age and weight creep up on you ... my wife and her aunt sneak down to St Pete annually to visit family
and the heat is always a major topic when they return
in Hawaii we called them zories or slippahs

We called them thongs when I was younger... Had to change my vocabulary on that one when everyone looked funny at me then I said I had " my new thongs on".....

If you are carrying in a pocket of your shorts, gravity might let others verify what you mean by thongs. :runaway:
Have to watch that, not too many keys in the other pocket either....
I tried to pack my expensive Colt Defender and you are correct, it pulled my shorts down.. It was too heavy as its all metal, no plastic in it.. Eye bleach needed by any observers.....

Also, avoid a Maxwell Smart moment when carrying in your pocket..

I wear denim or "cargo" style shorts in hot weather, all of which need a belt anyway. With a loose button-down or T-shirt outside, I can hide most of my smaller handguns fairly easily. I've also found wearing it cross-draw seems to work better for me, especially when driving- I can still get to the gun more easily that if it's in the "4 o'clock" position. The seat belt buckle and seat bolsters really get in the way.

When one is shaped like Gru, suspenders and a belt are prudent.
