What Do You Carry And Why?

in NY the gun has to be separated from the ammo when transporting. ....... I need to get out of NY!
In KY, No need for a CCDW permit anymore. WOOOOOO We all can carry openly or concealed

NY Laws SUCK!!!! I do not believe that I could live in an area that would not allow me to have firearms. I understand the tax stamp and such for certain ones but NY Laws and some other states go way too far. I don't need a bump stock, a mag over 30 rounds, binary trigger, belt fed, drum fed or any of that stuff. BUT I will only live in an area that would allow me to buy it if I wanted them.

I am confident in what I have and that it will provide what I need to be done. Plus, I make my own most of the time.

BTW... Despite the looks, this is not an AR platform. This is an MP5 Submachinegun platform with AR rails and lipstick (i.e. no gas tube).

LOVE ".40 Long" guns. I believe that one is actually a delayed blowback action, so it reduces the recoil even more. It's just pricey.

I've got several of the pistol chambered AR's (9mm and 45), and I want to do a 10mm because I shoot (a lot) of 10mm, but I haven't gotten to it, yet. I'm surprised by how much the 9mm's recoil in a straight blowback gun. NO IT'S NOT THAT MUCH, but it is all at the same time. I hear the CMMG's just lay there . . . like an ex-girlfriend. I want to shoot one to see the difference. At $1,500ish for the CMMG, I could build a couple of pistol caliber AR's, so it would have to be phenomenally good. And the other pisser about the "non-AR" platform is that I've got a bucket full of AR components (good ones). Some of the aftermarket triggers are sweet, and I'd almost hate to deviate into another platform. *sigh* All these decisions.

I had a Diamondback 5.56 AR-pistol for a while. I was a great gun, no complaints there, but just wasn't as much "fun" as I thought.
It's like dropping a flash-bang at your feet when you fire it, and everyone around you hates you for the fireball and the noise.
I bought a .22 lr Ruger Charger (10/22 pistol) a couple years ago- this thing is FFUUNN! And very accurate! :nice:

The thing that interests me most about this gun in this caliber is that I hand-load. There are other videos of this same platform going through clip after clip of ammunition from the lowest power plinker to the big 300 gr. rounds packed with magnum powder.

In my mind, there's only one cartridge that I would prefer more on this platform and that's 45 Colt.

I have a 5.55 carbine. It's loud as fck and the muzzle flash is very impressive. :rlaugh:

Yeah, I started reloading about 10 years ago (for myself . . . been making munitions since the 90's). I swore I'd never do it, but my father-in-law gave me a Glock 20C for Christmas (he knew I was fascinated with the 10mm), and I got hooked. I was okay buying commercial ammo for it, but the next "love" I found was a Tanfoglio in .38 Super. So, I was destined to start reloading.

IRONICALLY, I just got my first .45 Long Colt (and my very first revolver), and I'm having some deep feelings for it, as well. That's a wonderful round (in a wonderful gun). Lots of fun to be had with it.

I'm going to look at components to build a 10mm AR pistol, I guess. LOL! I just need to bite the bullet and do it . . . no pun intended. :)

You can download the .45's pretty good, and the rifles are probably chambered for the same round. The .45 LC is a really versatile round. You can load them to nothing or jack them up into the hefty magnum range. There are even a few loadings called "Ruger Only", and they're beefy. I haven't explored the round as much as I'd planned to, but crap has gotten out of hand pricewise.

My Cowboy Load: 250 gr. RNFP, Winchester Cartridge, Magnum CCI Large Pistol Primer, 6.6 gr. Winchester 231

Hot Load: 300 gr. Hornady XTP, Remington Cartridge, Magnum CCI Large Pistol Primer, 33.5 gr. Hodgen H110
This is a compressed load for Ruger Blackhawk and Thompson Contender only. I would love to shoot this round out of something like the CMMG.

I can crank out 100 rounds of the Cowboy load in 30 minutes-ish with my progressive reloader.

Each and every one of the hot loads gets hand weighed and adjusted. I still use the progressive but I don't use the powder dispenser and disk system. I've lit up the rifle range with it at the end of a cowboy shoot. I usually have 5 of them on my belt. :D

In-case a Grizzly bear wanders out onto the range.
